Hopes Crushed :(

Well, today I went to a dealership to check out an FR-S, and hopefully trade in my STi and purchase said car...

Only to find out the prices were marked up to $34,000. :( I guess the search begins again, has anyone experienced this yet?

$34k??!?!? So they are asking for $10k over MSRP, which they are bound by Scion not to go above? What kind of FR-S are they trying to sell?

Florida Scion dealers at it again? They seem to be the biggest offenders for this. Every dealer in the DC area has them at MSRP...

^This. Call this asshat of a dealer and threaten to bring down the Corporate thunder.

They are STILL doing this? There's no way they're still selling those cars as fast as they are getting them in.. it's been two months now!

GTFO Out of there !

Or if not, you could, like many people said: Call Scion!

I told him I'm not paying a penny over $27,000, and after he said he can only do about $1,500 off the 33K price tag, I said forget it, and walked out.

I'm currently on the phone with another dealership that values the MSRP price, and even brought it up before I mentioned it. They've heard horror stories about other dealers in the area marking up $8,000 to $15,000. Only thing I'm upset about is that they don't have a 6MT Whiteout, which is what I was looking at.

Oh well, I suppose I'll see where this takes me.

Drive tlo another dealer that isn't hiking the prices???

Auto-Hauss 08-01-2012 02:22 PM

You should report them. Pure pricing is pure pricing. Go to the dealership and take pics of said car with the sticker showing the price. Strong arm them into giving you pure pricing. If they don't raise hell. That's BS.

Check the Tampa area dealerships, I believe most, if not all, are at MSRP. Courtesy in Tampa (next to Brandon, FL) never went above MSRP, the others did but are back down.

If that price was for a loaded BRZ LTD...ok, maybe, but Scion has a "pure price policy!" So here's what you do! Find the car you want to purchase get a buyer's order (tell the dealer it's for your loan institution) fax it to Scion Corporate and let them give you the real deal. Scion will likely give you the name of a "trusted" dealer to go to. Good luck!

I had to order mine to get a car with no markup and not bull options. It is funny that most dealers here are trying to add toyoguard even though the car comes with scionboost.

I have 4 weeks left till my whiteout 6MT comes in.

David Maus in Orlando doesn't have any mark-up. I called them last week to double check. I will be heading down there in about a month to pick mine up. I've already seen 2 other David Maus FR-S's running around Jacksonville, so there must be a reason.

I went to Keith Peirson Toyota and they had 4, yes 4 sitting on the lot and they can't move em because of the 5k markup, but if you play really really really hard ball with them, they will drop that 5K. They made me that offer as I was about to drive away. Still didn't take it though as the only Firestorm they had was the showroom one, door scuffs and all.
