Private Tour at Canepa on 7/20
 

Thanks for voting recently on a date to visit Canepa!

You may not really know of the Canepa facility and what exactly they do there. They offer a complete restoration facility for all kinds of cars, from classic vehicles that are decades' old to rally Group B Porsche 959's, and crazy cars like the V16T Cizeta Moroder, and a museum full of various cars and former race cars.

Canepa is graciously offering us the opportunity for a free, private group tour of their facility. For anyone who's ever been to one of the old Canepa Cars and Coffee, you know how special this experience can be, and for those who never had a chance to go to any of those, this would be it as they are no longer holding C&C events.

The tour length is roughly 1.5 to 2 hours.

This is the first time we've done a group tour with them; it should be an awesome experience and hopefully this will open up the option of having more tours there in the future!

Right now no caravan/drives are set up before this event but we may have some kind of drive after (details to come closer to the date).

I mean, if anything, I'm hoping this opens the doors to do tours again later. So that way people get a chance to go another time if they can't make it this time.

This is definitely a test-run kinda thing haha.

Oh wow Reno! Someone else is coming down from Reno but not for the Canepa Tour but for our annual Summer Kickoff event on June 1st.

Yeah I wish I could make it on the first.

Unfortunately I don't know a good one offhand. I'd say checking Yelp or Google Reviews would be your best bet. There should be hotels in the Scotts Valley area, or you could probably find one around Campbell/Los Gatos.

So awesome to hear you'll be able to make it from such a long distance though. :)

If you want to stay in Santa Cruz I like the Hotel Paradox, but because of work travel I am a biased Marriott whore. It's not right on Pacific (the main drag) but is an easy walk. It's a longer walk if you want to go to the beach/boardwalk area, but not too bad.

I would definitely stay on the coast side, santa cruz, capitola, aptos. I do not recommend staying in los gatos or san jose. Too far with the traffic. Probably some good airbnb stuff if you are into that.

@spike021 are we open to invite others? I was talking about it to a couple of coworkers (triumph TR4 and Factory Five Cobra) and they we very interested in joining.

I think that should be okay since we didn't give a specific number, just a range of how many might come for the tour. It is mostly supposed to be norcal86 though since that's what I told them it was for :).

Who would want to caravan from SJ?

We’re thinking of doing a caravan from SJ but just need to nail down the details for meetup point and time.

I'm going to be bringing my old man in the brz but I think we should be careful to keep this amongst the group otherwise we will end up with a clusterfk of people.

Not sure what you guy's plan is, but I'm planning on heading out around 5:30am from Sacramento. My plan was to take the usual route but taking a little detour down 92-35-17 to Canepa.

I can plan on stopping at the Upper Crystal Spring overlook right at 92 and 35 around 7:30/8 and hang out for a few mins for anybody that want to meet up. I'll plan on leaving around 8:10/8:15 which should land me at Canepa's right at 9:30
