BRZ Limited Bluetooth Music issues
Mine works great, except that when I get in the car and it first starts to stream music over bluetooth, it sounds all garbled. I have to turn off bluetooth on the phone and then turn it back on again and then everything is fine.
Phone is a HTC Evo 4G LTE running ICS and it works perfectly with my other bluetooth devices for streaming music. This issue is specific to the BRZ. I do notice that music starts trying to play automatically as soon as the phone connects, even though it is not set that way on the phone. |
Update the phone to the latest OTA.
I had this problem with my EVO LTE, I would have to turn the car on, let it make connection, shut BT off on the phone, turn BT on on the phone, let it reconnect....and then it works. After the OTA. It works fine. |
I already have the latest OTA.

does it correctly update the song being played on the head unit?
With My iphone playing spotify, it will usually stay on whatever the first song is I play for the whole trip, not a huge deal as I use the phone for music navigation, but sometimes annoying. It does this over BT and when playing Via Ipod functionality (playing spotify) |
Tagging the song correctly only works with an Iphone as I understand. Android users don't get song tagging.
|
Could always just get a Micro USB stick and put the music on there? The latest OTA worked for me (I'm actually rooted with MeanROM, but it's based on the latest OTA).
|
True, but it should just work. My phone works fine with three other cars bluetooth radios!

Is the headunit supposed to display the song info when using bluetooth? I can play and control the songs fine, but the headunit does not list the song information over BTA, only when I plug it in with the USB cable. |

it does for me on blue tooth connection, playing Spotify. I don't know about playing from itunes because I don't have any music actually stored on my phone haha it's just not correct sometimes, sometimes it shows the song elapsed time on the left of the bar and on the far side of the bar where it shows total song time...it will show the time for the whole playlist or album, or sometime 30 or 40 hours (with random minutes and seconds... and now to make everything even happier....my usb connector seems to be shaudy, as it will connect and disconnect form my phone when connected directly...super annoying as it pauses everytime it disconnects and errors on the headunit.... |
Try pairing your radio with some friends phones and see if the bahavior is consistent. If so, back to the dealer. If not...wipe your phone and reload perhaps?
I stream Pandora from my iPhone over BT and get album, song and artist displayed and can pause/play/skip using the touch controls. Only issue I have is if I get a call, I have to toggle the power on the radio to re-establish; the music starts after hang-up but comes out the phone speakers. Fortunately a quick power toggle doesn't result in a full radio reboot and the connection comes back instantly. A minor annoyance, fortunately I don't get many calls. |
After I updated my iPhone 4s to ios 6b4, all the random disconnect issues have vanished.

Updated my iphone last night and song info now displays when using BTA

Just an update on this... I finally got sick of the HTC Evo 4G LTE for other reasons, and I ditched it for a Samsung Galaxy 3. I tried everything with the HTC to get it to work properly with the head unit, but it never would. I even did a factory reset on the phone and started from fresh.
With the SG3, it worked straight away and even the text messages show up on the head unit. Song tagging over bluetooth works as well. |
Can you guys search through your music via BT?
