I’m speaking of my oldest best friend...let’s call him Homer...he was my best man when I got married...& I was his for his second go around...long story short second marriage didn’t work...he lost the sweet 4000 sq ft house on a golf course in Myrtle Beach & his job...moved back to his home town & now lives with his mother going on five years ago...

We occasionally go to music festivals...next one is Memorial weekend...a year ago he ran into a girl from our high school days...also a two time divorced...while not a stunner she has aged well...

Six months ago she let it be known that she would like to go out...Homer hasn’t dated but rarely...he blew it off...she has found out about the festival & is now letting it be known she would like to stay at our camp...

Homer is not having any of it...when I asked why...in so many words said she was a loose woman...I told Homer “You’re not bringing her to meet your mom & marrying her...it’s called a rain coat & might be the best you’ve had in years”...which is true because his last was years ago.

If not interested then just not interested. Simple.

Dude obviously went through some life changing events. Maybe he isn't interested in getting back in the game at all. Maybe his two marriages fell apart because he can't come to grips with his own sexuality? There are a LOT of factors in this story, and it's unfair to pressure someone you consider a friend to pursue something he doesn't want.

It was the initial “Huh” reaction that prompted me to say what I did...partly want to see him get back in the saddle too...but have not pushed it any more...

Sounds like he is a long term relationship type exclusively. There is nothing wrong with that, it's personal preference. I will take short term pleasure if I'm not in a long term, but some guys just don't care for that. I mean some guys will take short term pleasure during a long term relationship... To each their own I guess.

I'm doing the exact same thing right now, after strike two. Sure, I miss the poo-nanny, but I simply no longer can be bothered with the inevitable bullshit that comes with ANY relationship, even just a 'sure thing'. I need that like another hole in my head...not to mention my tolerance for BS is right around the zero mark now.
