Brz steering wheel buttons in a 86

I wanted to know if it’s possible to put the push to talk button that the brz has on the right side and swap it into a Toyota 86? Or 86 owners does it have a special button you use for same purpose. Was thinking of upgrading one day to the 86 from the 13 Brz I have.

The 18 + 86s have the same features as the BRZ of the equivalent trim level.

Doesn't look like any of the 86 trims have the same phone buttons as the BRZ. They're on the left side outside the circle.

I'd rather they not be there, I bump them all the time by accident :mad0260:

My 2019 86 doesn't have those buttons. Answering and ending calls is done with the touch screen

The GT shows them on the right. The 86 on the left.

I believe he's asking specifically about the Answer/Hang up buttons, left side on the bottom.

The left top is Source across all, Left circle is forward/back/volume on the radio. Right group only applies to GT and up as well as BRZ with the nicer cluster.

The voice control button is on the right regardless of cluster level on the BRZ.

All of the 86 models look to have the circles (all left, right with cluster) and Source, but none have the phone buttons on the left bottom side. Also no voice control, the right side is completely blank, not a fake circle with the 3 outside buttons remaining on the base model.

The GT pic I posted shows buttons on the right but ya I see what you are saying about the phone one now.

So many different combos!

Ahhh the right buttons are for the display!

It's crazy.

The GT, TRD, BRZ Limited and tS have the circle of buttons on the right for controlling the cluster.

Base 86 and BRZ Premium have the analog cluster, so no buttons.

So the buttons aren’t interchangeable? If I find a wrecked 17+ Brz I can’t take them and put them in a 86 or is it a bit early to know yet?

It’s a completely different head unit. Doubt it would be interchangeable, but you never know.

They work, but not with stock HU. You need an aftermarket one that lets you map them.

Super late on this thread but looking through forums to see if this is possible

I have a base 2017 86 and wanted to upgrade to a cluster with buttons so I just purchased a brz limited steering wheels. I do have an aftermarket HU to map buttons so I'm hoping i can utilize those extra buttons.

Will keep everyone posted on how it goes

Super irrelevant to this thread but I was thinking could I "downgrade" my steering-wheel full of unnecessary buttons to the old thicker steering-wheel..

Hey guys, success!!!

Was able to install BRZ 18 buttons on my 17 base model and the buttons work!! All i need now is the LCD cluster which is on the way. Wrapped my trim too while i was at it. Check it out!
