Looking at my first set of wheels, curious on fitment

Yo! I have a 2013 FRS running stock suspension and bodykit. I'm currently looking at getting the Forgestar F14s in a staggered config.

I would like to run 18x9.5" in the front and possibly 18x10" in the rear. I would just like to know if this is possible as I want absolutely no rubbing issues but still want a wider look.

Current wheel/tire setup:
  • Front: 17x7(215/45)
  • Rear: 17x7(245/40)

9.5 in the front is problematic on stock suspension, no matter the offset. The widest most go on stock is 9 +35ish, and even that pokes a little more than I'd like.

Also, there's no reason to stagger. You won't be able to rotate your tires, and the aesthetic difference of half an inch is minimal. You risk screwing up the handling.

I suggest you take one of two routes:
1) Square setup x9 +35ish; or
2) Get coils and get 18x9.5 +40ish.

Good taste! They kind of remind me of my gunmetal enkei ekm3. Enjoy you first mod once you get sizing sorted, friend.

Alright, the square setup doesn't sound bad. If I run 18x9" +35, what tires should I run? 255/40?

245/35

255 will look meatier but you run the risk of rubbing on your front fenders.

Big rims and tyres are one of the quickest ways to ruin the fun factor on these cars.

Track is a different story, sort of, to a point...

If it is a street car and you are more interested in form then go for it, lose of performance/fun factor isn't a issue when your hardparked.

If you want to retain the fun factor I would suggest no bigger that 225 square, 17 x 8.

Good 17 225 tyres are well cheaper than 18 255.

More sidewall for the street is advisable IRT ride quality and rim protection from poor roads.

When your NA and running minimal power big tyres will rob the car both in performance and playfulness.

Best option is to borrow some rims and tyres in the size you "think you want" and see how they feel and fit, this is the only way to "maybe" not make a very expensive mistake.

Opinions may vary
