Keyless Entry Not Working
2013 BRZ, zero issues with the fob last year, wasn't till the car was sitting in -15 to -20 weather that it stopped being able to read the key. Car starts just fine (I have to tap the key on the start button for it to start), and the battery is healthy in the car. I'm yet to change the fob batteries but I have a small hunch it's not the batteries.... considering this issue started solely because it was very cold outside. Is there a way to reset the system? Any ideas?

Change the fob battery , mine did the same last winter.
It seems that fob batteries last about 5 years. |
It's the key fob battery.
The fact that it started during cold weather could just be a coincidence, but cold also reduces battery efficiency and can finish off one that is already on its way out. What you're describing is what it does when the battery is going out. If you have two fobs, be ready to change the other one also. The batteries in these things go out around the same time whether you're using them or not. When the one in my pocket went out, I went and grabbed the one I had never used out of the kitchen drawer. It was dead too. |
