Weird 2nd gear issue
 

The other day I was driving slowly in a parking garage in 2nd gear, b/w 1-2k rpm. There were a few moments when the car felt like it was accelerating by itself. It basically felt like an automatic car for a few seconds, my foot was not on the clutch or gas, and I had to ride the brake to keep the car at a constant speed. I've noticed this happen twice before, both times in 2nd gear in the same parking garage. Only lasts maybe 5 seconds max. I have a 2018 86 w/ 6k miles.

It's totaled. Set it on fire. Buy a new car.



That out of the way... yeah mine does that in the right conditions, so does my '91 MR2 Turbo.
All it needs is a flat enough ground and the right momentum from shifting and it goes like an auto.

But seriously, it's totaled, set it on fire, buy a new better automatic car.

Idle control on this car does some strange stuff sometimes. Mine oscillates really bad sometimes. Other time it’s stable. Sometimes I will be in gear while braking at low speeds and then clutch in and it will jump up to 2k and hang there for a full 3secs before dropping to a normal idle. Sometimes I will be in gear in stop and go at low (near idle) speeds and out of the blue it pulls. I don’t think it’s anything to worry about. Just another strange personality trait of our cars.

Seriously, this is normal. Stop looking for things that are odd and enjoy everything it does right. You might actually like it!

I'm pretty sure this has happened to me before. Even after a ton of upgrades and a tune it still does it.
