Forced induction soon.. questions
So I'm planning on throwing on a greddy turbo kit on my 18 brz, so these kits fit the 17+ models? Also, any necessary supporting mods i should look into? I.e catch cans, clutch, etc.
|
Yeah you probably need a better clutch and a catch can is recommended. If it's the kit with the taller intercooler, you'll need to either cut the front crash bar to make room or replace it with one of those drift bars. Other items aren't immediately necessary, but things you won't have from the kit alone include a blow off valve, gauges, boost controller.
And yeah they fit all models 2013+ |
Tuning software, catch can, boost controller or boost control solenoid. If you want over 220 wheel torque, get a better clutch. Over 250 wheel torque, injectors.
Also, much better tires will be a must. |
The best people to ask if it will work would probably be Greddy.

depends a lot on how you plan to use it, im boosted jrsc 260whp 190tq, dynotuned, no supporting mods, been happy for many many miles. i dd with maybe a redline pull once a week.
if ur tracking most go with an oil cooler, if ur dding ull be fine without anything, despite people telling you you need to every supporting mod in the book to drive to work and back with a modest 260/190 lol |

Forced induction
If you drive it easy and only do occasional pulls it may be fine. If you lean on it or track it your going to eventually need, built engine, clutch, gearbox/s, oil cooling solution, oil pressure solution and thats just to start I've seen as many stock engines and boxes lunch themselves at the track as built boosted engines. These puppies ain't strong It's basically all based around power goals and how much money your willing to spend/waste. Enjoy |
Only do this if you can afford an engine rebuild. I'm not saying it will happen, but if it does will you be sent to the wall, loose your home or eat 2 minuted noodles for the rest of your life?
There is a pretty reasonable chance of bending rods on earlier models. Don't know if the 17+ beefed them up. |
Mine ran 330whp and 240wtq on a dynojet with an Edelbrock and e85. Stock clutch and it's not been slipping yet on or off the track.

Any recommendations on a gtx2867r turbo blanket

I don’t know what size turbine housing that has but I just got an eBay one that was bundled with heat wrap and it’s been fine and was cheap. They’re just sized to the turbine housing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
People can find this question answered many times through a Google search such as, "BRZ supporting mods for FI" , or something to that effect.
I am at 276 WHP and 209 tq on a Dynapack. Stock clutch at 65000 km, probably 35000+ FI no issues whatsoever. Had a catch can and finally de-cluttered and removed it since it caught very little. Oil cooler definitely good if you track or drive in very hot weather a lot. Otherwise, other mods might allow you maximum power with a dyno tune. I have quite a few and the tune was done with all of them installed. They are not to support FI, but to squeeze a bit extra out. Things like headers and LWCP. |
