@JakePoetzel-BRZ

Tired to send this too your PM. But you selected to not receive PM so I just posted my reply here.
I sold that exhaust a long time ago haha, probably like a year and a half ago. I've since switched to a Tomei Type 80 Exhaust which I love. When I had my injen SES exhaust it sounded good really brought out the sound of the car, but I personally hated the drone that the car gained throughout the 3k-4200 rev range which killed the exhaust for me since I daily drive my car. Personally if you plan to go forced induction in the future, you should buy an exhaust that you can keep in the long run. This is why I choose the Tomei Type 80 it sounds awesome N/A and will be an excellent complement to my turbo once it arrives this month :happyanim: If you like the way the injen one sounds then thats the right choice, but i kind of regret buying it cause I was one of the first people to actually upload a sound clip of it so I didn't know about the drone. Just a heads up

interesting. alignment? how's the stretch on the 255 over the 9.5? think you could fit more? how's inner clearance?

i was thinking about doing the 8.5's with 255's because i wasn't sure... there just doesn't seem to be that much room. goal is about -2.5/3 up front and -2 in back. if i can fit the 9.5+40's, then i'll do that instead of the 8.5+45's. thanks

Thanks man! Love your build also! My cars been there for along time, almost 3 months tomorrow. I got unlucky and got one of those faulty DW Fuel pumps, took awhile for the guys over there at that shop to figure out what was wrong with my car. Hopefully I can finally take her home this month.

did you ever get the design craft clutch fork?

outlaweking 03-12-2016 08:44 PM

Did you have to roll the fender for the Advan?

No I didn't, I was trying to reach him for months but no response back. But I had Evasive motorsports reinforce a spare stock one for me, Since my clutch starting making a really loud sound on deceleration it was only noticeable at low speeds(sub 30mph/4000rpm). The clutch still worked 100% and made no noise on acceleration. The clutch was reinstalled with the custom fork and I haven't had a problem since, also my stock fork was noticeably bent compared to the custom fab'd one. Just a heads up since I know you run a Twin plate also, its worth upgrading if any problems that I stated pop up on you.

Here's some photos of my stock fork and the custom one(Not finished at the time). It was fully reinforced when it was reinstalled, I just don't have photos of it finished.

No fender work, but some adjustment was made with the alignment to make sure everything worked. But the car still rubs on full lock with 255 width tires with what I believe is a 1.9-2.1 inch drop, Im not 100% sure on the height since we have raised and lowered it multiple times.

I was thinking of doing the same thing too... I reached out to him some more this past week.. I guess if it comes down to it, I'll just have to do the same.

Finally dropped off the FR-S at Outfront Motorsports for the full rebuild on the FA20, Its going to be the 6th I believe Closed deck FA20 in the world. Stay tuned for the specs and updates as I get them from Outfront over the next month and weeks ahead!!

Specs:
-Closed Deck Service
-Bore/Power Hone w/ Torque Plates
-CP Custom High-Compression Forged Pistons w/ceramic coating
-Carrillo Pro-H 3/8 CARR Bolt Connecting Rods
-Kings Performance Rod Bearings
-Kings Performance Main Bearings
-Outfront Motorsports 1/2" Stud kit
-Stage 2 Porting for heads
-Supertech Stainless Intake Valves
-Supertech Inconel Exhaust Valves
-Supertech Dual Valve Spring kit W/Titanium Retainers 74 lb
-WPC treated (New FA20 Crank, Main bearings, Wrist pins, rockers, Cams, Rod bearings, and piston skirts), fully balanced and blueprinted.

very sexy looking built motor you have chosen. You've re-lit my desire to build the FA20 instead of doing a motor swap. Are you staying with the same turbo after the built motor arrives? keen to see results on a closed deck fa20

Once we sort out the motor (Its having a few problems from reusing the old VVT cams from the blown motor). We're gonna first max out the Garrett GTX2867R which should run out of steam around 20 PSI and should be around 400+HP on E85.
Next comes either the option of a direct bolt on Garrett GTX3076R, which we will try to get it too mid 600 HP numbers on E85 or might just switch it up and go with a new twin scroll manifold fro, JDL and put a BorgWarner turbo on it. Or we might try and stick on a Garrett GTX3582R and try and hit 700Hp haha :D

Personally I don't look to run more then 700Hp on the block, because I don't want to put that much strain on the Carrillo rods since they personally might be the weakest point in the whole build. Not because of the company, but because these FA motors run a offset design rod that isn't as strong as a straight one.

If you go this route you should try and bore out the motor to 2.1 or 2.2L since the closed deck reinforces the block in the most vital area when the piston is fully compressing the gasses. Either route you go i'm pretty sure you will enjoy this motor, you will be able to beat on it all day at 500-600HP numbers and not have to worry about reliability.

Even though my car is still currently down, car parts are still coming in the mail. I've been waiting on these parts since early 2016 and they finally came in! Here's a photo of my new Varis lightweight carbon trunk and Voltex type 2 1600mm with custom gurney flap! I can't wait to install these parts once my car is back!
Also have some Whiteline sway bars and other olds and ends that I will install once the car is back in my possession.

You should get those A.C.E. carbon canards too I think they're cheaper then the flimsy trd ones, also they would look sick on asphalt. Thanks by the way!

It got really damaged when we were unloading the car off of a uhaul, also if it wouldn't have gotten damaged when we unloaded the car; it would have been surely destroyed after that huge tire that hit me on the fwy one week prior to 86 fest

I have another one on the way, it hurts my wallet just thinking about it.. But she'll look pretty again soon, once I get my new bumper and stuff repaired on the car. The car is going to look sick with the spoiler and finally complete the look of the car, and help a lot with the aerodynamics of the car.

Lmao I had already pulled the trigger on the TRD ones and installed them :(

OUCH! Sorry to hear about your lip, varis is $$$$

It was my first time taking my car to socal when I went to 86Fest, I had never scraped my lip once yet. I get off my exit heading to K-Town and I scraped my lip so damn hard crossing an intersection that one of the bolts broke off underneath. I never seen a deep ass gutter that runs across an intersection before and the asshole camry riding my ass didn't help. Never again. Don't know how y'all do it down there lol!

Yeah its a really expensive mistake, unfortunate one at the best.

That sucks but thats part of daily driving in southern California for the majority of us, you just gotta take the dips slowly and if you have to angle them. Luckily I've only scraped on some deep gutters which is a hell of a lot better then destroying my lip with one bad gutter.

Recently had time to dust off the camera and update some shots on the current stage of the build. Fixed a lot of wear and tare items that needed replacement, and upgraded a lot of components for simplicity and function.

Next upgrades include a Garrett G-Series Turbo upgrade and V-band conversion!

StraightOuttaCanadaEh 12-31-2017 10:23 PM

Nice looking car man. I also decided recently that I'll get the Varis Arising kit for my 86
