Valve spring recall is ridiculous

Been doing a bunch of research on the topic and I don’t think I’ve seen 1 positive outcome to a FR-S after getting the recall done. My 2013 has 44k on it and honestly don’t want to risk my perfect running car to die after it getting “fixed” by the dealer. Honestly contemplating on selling the car. What do you guys think of the whole issue?

It really depends on the mechanic really. I probably got lucky and got a mechanic that knew what he was doing. Im in Perth, Western Australia

I did my recall about 3 weeks ago now and I have no issues (so far). Ive only done about 600-700km on it since then. Im waiting till at least 1000kms before i post in the thread on NO ISSUES after recall.

I think another thread about an issue that already has multiple threads dedicated to it is the was to go.

;)

Since you're in CT, you're not obligated to do the recall. So don't, your car will be fine.

Don't sell your car, your springs are likely just fine. Just don't have the recall done, I'm not. Or maybe a year or two from now when they iron everything out.

You can also check out the thread of success stories.

People who have failures say lots.

People that havn't say little.

Just keep the car and don't have the recall done.

If you decide to sell don't whine that you got nothing for it since nobody that knows will be interested.

Sell it. Set it on fire the less of you (owners) out there the better

Only if you do the same to mine *cough* I mean it would be odd chances both out cars where to spontaneously combust.

Good thing for full coverage insurance right *wink, wink*

why? 03-20-2019 08:01 AM

i'll buy yours for $1.

Seriously just ignore the recall. No reason to have it done.
