Worth doing major service if low KM?

Hey guys,

So my car's due for it's 54 month major service (going by Australian service schedule) which includes the fuel filter change, spark plug change and whatnot.

Just wondering if it's worth doing a major service or if I should hold out a little longer and just go with 1 or 2 more minor services since the car's only done 40000KM and hasn't been tracked so there shouldn't be too much wear on the car.

Thanks!

Welcome to the gang, there, GCFSA ….

I would figure that if the fuel filter was clogged, the car wouldn't be running proper. The spark plugs should be good for another 40,000 km. I don't know about the "whatnot".

I'd just change the oil and filter and drive on.

(maybe have them change the brake fluid?)

Is your warranty dependent on completion of this service? If not, I wouldn't bother. If the car starts running poorly, then sure. But unless you've got burning oil and the car sputters, I'd leave plugs at least until 120k. Tough saying not knowing, maybe your car runs like crap and there's sand in your gas :barf: that's all that would force me to replace them

Going off the schedule for 54 months

I would do oil and filter, the brake fluid, rear diff.

If auto, do the auto trans fluid.

If manual, do the manual trans fluid, this is not really required though, more of a I've changed "all" the oils thing if you have the inclination, or OCD.

Oils tend to break down over time.
