Ouch. Just how fast was that other car going to send you flying like that?

Wasn't OP.

The person behind was probably watching the helicopters. I'm shocked the guy didn't die. Looks like he stopped dead in a matter of a second. That sort of impact should kill you. Maybe he was only going like 55 or less.

I always have to remind myself that lots of people are just that easy to distract. Put a flashing billboard next to that road and they will forget the rest of world is a thing until it is too late.

I know he was hit by someone else. Not sure why you had to quote my comment [emoji854][emoji854][emoji854]

It wasn't that he was hit by someone else it was that the guy that posted wasn't the guy that got hit. Nobody in this thread was involved. He did edit his original post after your replied to make it clear it wasn't him.

Didn't see the unedited text by OP. I see where the confusion is.

My quote was not meant to be aggressive or implying you "don't get it" or anything :)

Chikna 02-27-2019 03:41 PM

OP, are you okay?

It was originally just the title and the links. Even then there was nothing to indicate that the OP was the one that was hit though.

Looks like the OP is OK (since it wasn't him), but i'm having a little PTSD after watching the video, had the almost exact same thing happen to me in 1988 in my Toyota MR2. I was driving along minding my own business when the guy in the lane next to me (would not have been in the video shot) decided he needed my lane.

I ran completely off the road to avoid him but before I could come to a stop ran in to the guard rail just like that. Caught the rail with the front left corner of the car and in a reverse PIT maneuver got spun across three lanes of traffic in rush hour in DC and managed NOT to get hit.

The phantom car that caused the issue kept going, but one person did stop and gave an affidavit with a plate number so the guy got charged with reckless driving later (or so the officer said, I didn't have to go to court). Thing is, I drove the MR2 home and it was repaired to good as new.

No idea how fast I was going when I hit it, but I was doing over 65 when I first went off the road.

It definitely was not my day to die.

Wow, that's a hard hit.

Glad the driver was OK. And that's NOT a car I'll be buying from auction!

Everytime I watch something like this I can't help but think how engineers save so many lives.

There's no doubt that Doctors, Paramedics, Fireman and Police Officers save lives. But, I don't think Engineers get much credit.

That crash system hasn't been around all that long. There was a time when that car would have been launched into mid air, if lucky.
