Studs for a 5mm spacer & original stud length
Hey so my wheels are 18x8.5 +48 in the front so I have 5mm spacers so they don't rub. The thing is the stock studs are barely hanging on so I wanted to get some extended ones for the front so I didn't have to worry about that becoming a problem. I've looked around at other threads and couldn't find anything so I figured I'd make one. I wanna know how long the stock studs are and which extended studs I should get, since the ones I've found are all gonna be way too long. I'd assume that I only need studs 5mm longer than the stock ones since that's how big the spacers are. My spacers didn't come with any studs so that doesn't help.
Thanks |
You need ARP part number: 100-7729
ARP 100-7727 (no nose) and 100-7728 (rounded nose) are the same thread length as stock. Also 100-7716 works (for WRX), but its even longer than 100-7729 |

Not if with open ended or long enough lugnuts.

I run these. With my stock wheels and a 5mm spacer I can use the stock lug nuts. With my track wheels, no spacer, and closed ended lugs they still fit no problem. |
Just get some muteki sr48s with the ARP 100-7729 and you're good. Personally I use 100-7716, which are the longer ones, but it doesn't matter either way.

Gorilla close ended lug nuts will work too.

Bumping this rather than make a new thread.
Gah! Studs make no sense to me. That being had... forgive me, I've been buried in VWs for 20+ years. Is it relatively simple to pop them out and replace them? I'm having trouble finding a low offset wheel that I like so it looks like I may need spacers, which apparently will require longer studs for anything greater than 3mm? Are studs available that have enough thread to run stock wheels and also not stock (thicker PCD section) wheels? |
yes, take off the rotor, smack the face of the studs with a hammer and they'll pop out th eback. to press them in youll need to position the new stud in the hole, and add a few nuts for spacing and a sacraficial lug nut and then tighten down. the knurls in the new stud should be seated perfectly in the hub
the rears are a bit more lengthy as youllk have to deal with the drum parking brake. and it requires more tear down but its the same processs |
