2019 Norcal86 Board Member Nominations
Norcal86 is operated by a publicly elected board of directors. This leaves the group accountable to the community as that is why we are here in the first place. We have had a dedicated group for a few years and I can't thank them all enough. Some have elected not to run again to allow fresh faces and new ideas into leadership. So please post your nominations or if you would like to run yourself. Current board members are automatically included (except those that expressed otherwise).
Current board: President: Jonah aka Finch @finch1750 Stockton, CA Board members: Josh @Pish San Jose/San Francisco, CA Tricia @86FRESH San Jose, CA Trevor @MisterSheep San Ramon, CA Plato @PMok Hayward, CA Board member responsibilities include: planning and running various annual events such as Summer Kickoff and 86Day, assisting with local meets if/as needed, being a positive influence in the community and representing FT86 owners in a positive light at all times, and of course, all other duties as assigned lol If you have anyone you think would be a good candidate or think you yourself would be a good candidate please post up with a statement. Please specify if you would like to run for President or for a general board position. If you have any questions on duties please post here or PM a current board member. The terms will be from March 2019 to February 28, 2020. Nominations will take place until 11:59pm on Monday 2/25 Elections will take place immediately afterwards via poll posted on this regional forum. Top 4 vote getters will be elected to the board. The Presidential election is separate and the top vote getter will be elected. The President is required to put a $100 investment into the club. For those of us who may not be privy to all the details of being a boardmember, would you mind elaborating?
An example question I have: are board members required to attend every/most 86Challenge track days to assist there? And any other required attendance at events besides the obvious ones (SKO/86 day)? |

Summer Kickoff is the only day every member is required to attend. 86Day we need at least 3 board members present. We also need at least 2 board members at the holiday donation event. The rest of the year (mostly leading up to events) you just need to be available via messenger for logistical planning or voting on select matters. A presence at other local meets is helpful if people want stickers, need to pick up their shirt after missing Kickoff, etc. And then of course as mentioned in the OP just making sure you represent the community in a positive way and that others at meets you attend are doing the same. |

With that said, I nominate @spike021 as board member! :D |

First and foremost I want to thank 2018 President Jonah (Finch), and fellow Board Members Josh (Pish), Tricia (86FRESH), and Trevor (MisterSheep) for the past year of service. It has been a great pleasure and honor to work together with you all on the NorCal86 Board, and with some of you for multiple terms now. Likewise a shout out to all the other former Board members who have served with me over the past 4 years: Jessie, Randy, Scott, and Sheena.
Having served on the Board and as your community representative from 2014-2018, I have watched our community explode with enthusiasm and energy. It’s been an amazing ride and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to watch it from a front row seat. We’ve enjoyed tremendous success with fantastic events and wonderful memories. If you are considering running for a position on the Board, I definitely encourage you to put your name in the hat. It’s a labor of love but it has incredibly rewarding moments. After 4 years of serving on the Board I think it’s a good time to step down and hand over some of the responsibility to others. It will allow me to focus on some other projects and things in my life that need more attention. With the experience and talented leadership of El Presidente Finch (who I of course unreservedly support again for the 2019 campaign ;) ) I am confident that NorCal86 sits on a solid foundation and will remain in good hands. I’m excited to see what the future holds for NorCal86. I of course will continue to be an active and vocal member of the community for the foreseeable future (or at least until I can get a smoking hot deal on a new Supra). JK! |

Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing well!
I would like to thank my fellow board members who I have worked with these past four years. Thank you Plato, Trevor, Trish, and Finch for all of the effort you put in. Also fellow members Jessie, Randy, and Scott who I had also a chance to work with in the previous years. When I was first elected for the role, I did not expect to meet so many different people. Whether it would be standing in a cold damp parking lot at night, or playing cards at the local boba shop, I have made so many friendships along the way. In transparency, these past few months, part of me started keeping myself away from the community because of my fear of leaving such a wonderful group. Knowing that my life would drastically change once leaving the Bay Area made me a bit sad; I would no longer get to enjoy my time with the connections I have made here. But even with that being the case, we will never lose what we have built together. Thank you too all the people who I have shared a conversation, broke bread, drank boba, spiritly drove up the mountains with myself. I will never forget y'all and the memories we made here. Do what you can to inspire others around you, and continue to progress forward with your lives; never stay stagnant. I hope I have impacted your lives just as y'all done for me. Signing off as your Norcal86 board member one last time. Josh Malonzo aka Pish 2015-2019 |
