where is everyone?

What happened to all the NorCal folks that usually participate on the forum?

It seemed like quite a few forum members sold off their BRZ/FRS and move on once the cars weren't that "trendy" anymore...

In general internet forums are dying out because Facebook. Unfortunate because it was easier IMO to find very specific information on things with forums.

Norcal86 does have a presents on Facebook however but like ndsleep612 mentioned with the trend. Similar thing happened when the WRX first came to the states. You can see the same trend happening with the NASIOC forums and i-Club. And honestly who sits behind a desktop computer or laptop these days when everyone is hunched over with a smart phone.

Still browse the forums daily but unless it's interesting I don't bother. Half the time it's a thread I don't even want to bother making a post because it's been discussed ad nauseam and can be solved by searching or I don't care enough to argue/defend my point. But like doggieboy said FB sorta killed it for me because the 86 FB groups are WAY more entertaining.

I’m always lurking the forums and then answer up when I see something to answer too.

Basically like everybody else said, fb and other places tend to be more popular these days. Not everybody knows or cares about the value of forums. And the last addition of things like pages and groups to Facebook make forums kinda obsolete in a way (I don’t personally believe it myself but it is how it is).

Tapatalk is the most valuable app on a smartphone hands down. You can read all your forums in one place and get notifications and all that. So really you don’t even need a laptop or desktop.

Check the arroyo out back. Might find a member washed up into a eucalyptus tree.

How's the weather doing there? Or is it all SoCal right now?

Still check the forums daily. Not too into the content/responses on facebook, its a bit too much sometimes. I don't really use facebook except for the messenger.

If there isn't news much doesnt get posted in the regional area. Just the normal meets and stuff.

Off topic tends to come and go, both here and the general off topic. Job changes, school changes, etc can also happen.

I'm here every day. Don't really post unless I'm replying to something tho.

80% of my browsing/posting happens when my work desktop is chugging away and I can't do anything but twiddle my thumbs.

Thank god those software engineers nailed multitasking.

For me, it's reaching "stasis" with my car. Learned what I was interested in, learned what I did NOT care about, and the car's running fine... so I check in every once in a while, sometimes frequently, sometimes after a few weeks' hiatus, but mostly just for yuks.. meme thread, random thoughts, GIF thread, etc...and if something new or interesting comes up tech or DIY-wise, I read it. Basically, this is a nice, fun, place, but after a year or so the "information" side of the equation is fulfilled, and the "entertainment" side becomes the majority of the reason... and, no disrespect to the fun and enjoyable folks here, but I prefer real life to the internet. If the folks I interact with on a semi-regular basis here were closer geographically, I'd love to get together. They're not, soooo... I hang with people in person rather than spend too much time here, or online in general.
