Block replacement under warranty - what all needs to be replaced?

Hi, I'm getting a short block replacement under warranty. The Tech said that includes piston rings, etc., all that are mated with the block. But he said that won't include timing chain, tensioners, heads, valve train, etc.
What else should be replaced while I'm at it? The car will remain stock, no FI. Thanks!

When I did mine I replaced the OCV filters and DI seals. I had just done my TOB but I would do that while it's out. I wouldn't worry about anything else.

You answered your own question. Stock........nothing else needs to be replaced.

Spoke to the technician in person. A bolt seized and stripped the block threads. So I'm getting a brand spanking new engine with zero miles!!
He'll replace spark plugs (at my expense).

A couple of days ago I was mourning that there were 2 brand new 2018 BRZs near me priced at $2000 less than what I bought mine for back in 2016.

What else besides spark plugs?

Might as well get the new throw out bearing, if not already.

If it's a new block then nothing else is needed.

TOB was replaced about 4000 miles ago with the new part # and high temp grease.

They said the odometer won't be reset, and that this would appear on my carfax. It might affect the resale value perception *if* I ever choose to sell.

Mr.ac 02-16-2019 09:29 PM

Yeah the OD are never reset nowadays. The car fax report shouldn't be much of a hit, most people that want a used car will want dealer services over local mechanics. Or you can always trade it in.
