FT86 Rexpeed Carbon Hood Damper Kit Leaking

I've emailed FT86 Speed Factory about this and I've also uploaded a video on YouTube. (Sorry for the poor quality and the constant sniffling. I have allergies and it's cold here in NY today.)

Has anyone else had issues like this?

FT86SF customer care representative, David, has gotten back to me and will be sending replacements. Thank God I bought these from them and not eBay or I'd be holding my hood up on my head while I work on my car.

Or you could be using the prop your car came with :iono:

I have the 86speed hood struts, been good for 2 years. Glad FT86SF is standing by a product they sold!

I hate the stock broomsticks in all of my cars. They don't open as high, for one. And depending on which car I'm doing an oil change on, for example, it's hard to raise the hood high enough even while tiptoeing once the car is on a ramp. Hood struts just make it so easy.

And yes, FT86SF is great. They're very nice to their customers.

I just replaced the hood struts today and I noticed the original ones I ordered from FT86SF are slightly different. The top cap on the new kit, for example, is a nicer cleaner looking gunmetal while the old ones I replaced have a cheap crimped looking cap. The warning sticker is also in bright orange instead of white. I'm not sure if these are new changes to newer batches but I like these.

Hi,

Did you get any issues after you replaced them? The price dropped to $63 so I was considering these guys below. I think they are the same you have.

Still recommending?

I no longer own an 86 but there were no issues after they were replaced.

I bought those used, works fine for me. Wish I did it sooner. The stock hood prop sucks.
