Forza Motorsport 7- PC & XBox

I did a search and the old Forza threads are OLD and not specifically about Forza 7. This one is new, and specifically about Forza 7!

You can play cross-platform, which is really nice. Does anyone else play? They have offline Rivals Mode, which is Time Attack against rivals, with times posted online for you to beat.

I've tried the online multiplayer, but it is shit. Ideally live racing would be best IMHO, but we;d need a real racing sim for that.

Anyone want to do some time attack?

I have Forza 7, but I hated the physics. I play Asetto Corsa all the time though.

I havent played AC in a while. From the terrible online experience to the lack of weather, I couldn't get into it. Great for fair weather hotlapping and not much else.

Forza isn't perfect but for me it's the best, especially racing against AI. If I ever start league online play again it'll be with rFactor 2

Online is fine as long as you are either fast or race with friends.

I hear ya. I love hot lapping The Nordschleife so AC is more appealing to me.

I did redownload F7 on my Xbox to give it another try. I still am not a big fan, the car instability under braking and the weird steering feel are annoying but it is pretty and I do love the ability to customize the car as I go. Dunno how the rival thing works but I have set some times on Class C time attack on the Nordschleife, Bathurst(love this track), and Laguna. Same SN as here.

My personal Rivals race.

A/B/C Class.
The Ring
All assists off.
Sim Damage.
Hud 100% off.
Cockpit View.
Night.

Good fun with friends who can actually drive and know to stay off the track if they go off.

There's instability under braking with certain vehicles that have too much rear brake bias. On most cars it's adjustable, on cars where it's not, those cars are ruined. There was one Birth of Grand Prix race that was ruined because of that. Some cars just come with a terrible set up.

I do no assists, simulated steering and fuel tire wear and damage, in-car view with H-shifter and manual with clutch. I like long or very long races if I like that car and track combo when I race against AI.

My favorite cars are 50s, 60s and 70s GT cars and Grand Prix cars. I hot lap with those a lot. I'm not a Ringer though, I like the permanent regular race tracks.

My paddle shifters have a bad habit of double clicking so racing anything with a 7 gear box is impossible. Modern cars kind of bore me anyway.

Ever since playing iracing and assetto, I can't enjoy forza anymore, but I still have it

Really? I have a friend that is a huge iRacing snob as has a VR iRacing setup. Although it is agreed that iRacing is far superior, he recently hopped on my Forza sim and complemented the game. I think it is one of those things where he expected it to be complete trash but when it turned out to be half way decent he was surprised. I agree iRacing is awesome. Especially with VR. But Forza has its place and after you tune the cars and set the proper gear ratios to match real life some cars feel pretty close. AWD cars seem a bit off to me.

It's the absolute lack of any steering feedback that kills it for me. When you're playing iracing, the steering wheel is constantly dancing in your hands over all the imperfections in the track surface. When I take a curb aggressively during a turn, it bucks and shakes the chair, which is amazing. It's that sweaty palmed realism, the insane noises and very very good multi-class racing. Forza has no steering feel (I play with a controller anyway but I did have a wheel once) and it's not the only one. I played project cars and it had the same curious lack of feel. Only Assetto and iracing had it out of all the sims and games I tried.

I feel you there. I spend more time messing with my steering wheel feel than I have actually playing the game bc I felt the same way.

And now I hear there is a new update for steering wheels. I will have to check that out next time I have a chance.

I'm the same way. I can't get rid of the dead on center feeling and strange ramp up in Forza. Drives me crazy.

For online play, rfactor 2 is the only game I've played that is any good. Racing wheel-to-wheel with someone halfway around the world is a really great experience.

So we should choose some car class and track for next week. The great thing about the Rivals mode is that there are lots of cars to pick from in each class and you do it offline whenever you want.

I'm partial to class A (so I can use 60's F1 cars ) and Brandy's Snatch, but shout out if you have a combo you like better

I liked Forza 7 (after they fixed some aspects), but never really pushed myself to be particularly fast. I was usually in the top 10%-15% on monthly bounty hunter events, but getting into the top 5% usually requires some silly stuff like manual w/ clutch and flat out shifting that makes any semblance of realism go right out the window. I understand it isn't an actual sim, but when you're bouncing off 9000 RPM at every shift while driving a stock Camaro, it just feels wrong.
