Shift Light Wiring

Hey guys,

So wiring has always been a daunting task to me, but today I was inspired to install an F1 style sequential shift light into the FRS. I read multiple threads on locations I could pull RPM signal from, but I didn’t see any that are in the dash which would be right next to where I am wiring the shift light. Does anybody have any advice on how to wire this? Pictures would be great!

Thanks!

You do know your current dash already has a shift light. You can set it to any rpm range you want.

Why would you add a second one?

Eh... whatever, rice it out bro.

I enjoy that your immediate reaction is to hate. That attitude is really going to help you go places in life.

I got a smaller steering wheel because I like the feel of it, but from the angle I sit it blocks the top of the RPM range so it’s hard to see the shift light or rpm gauge when it’s in the higher RPMs.

Also my car is a track build so being able to focus down track and out of the corner of my eye seeing the sequential LED lights will help me focus on the track.

But go ahead and hate.

If you have Facebook I'd check 86 Track Cars. I'm sure there are people there running aftermarket gauges that may not venture onto the forum (or at least this part of it).

I'd like to see your build progress if you continue with it. Watching videos of various cars (doug demuro) and he showed how ferrari has the classic shift light/bars on their steering wheel.

Thought it was pretty neat.

there's a sequential shift light in my to-install box simply because the oem one is not bright enough when i'm not looking directly at the cluster.
