Gas Pump Puzzler

I've had my FR-S all of five days on...maybe my fifth trip to a gas station since driving it back from California. A Murpny station that opened 2-3 years ago. Couldn't get any gas to pump. Tried three different pumps and the first two twice. Each time the pump was ready to pump but never got it to engage and put forth any fuel. After the third pump, I went in to ask if there was issues with the premium or they were aware of any issues with certain car models and the guy said no. I drove down the street to the Shell station and fueled up without issue, as I had on all previous stops prior to that Murphy station. The Murphy nozzle type did not seem to be quite the same as what I had experienced previously when filling up the FR-S and the Shell station seemed as the others did. The Murphy pump nozzle did not slide all the way in when the pump was oriented at 12 to 6, although I could slide it all the in when angled from 9 to 3. Shell pump nozzle slid all the way in at 12 to 6. I have filled other vehicles and a motorcycle at that Murphy without issue in the past. Anyone ever have any similar experiences???

Usually go to Costco to buy gas, but sometimes I buy closer to my house at the 24hr Kwik mart. All my other cars have the fuel door on the left and never had problems filling using the pumps on the left side of the car. Drove my 86 there and used the pump on the right side of the car. Never had to use that pump before since never a need. It took a really long time to fill up. Took so long that 3 cars came and left before I finished filling up and of course the 86 has a small gas tank. The numbers at the pump was rolling up very very slowly like a trickle. Since it was pumping, and pretty busy that night, I didn't really want to stop and try another pump.

I've never had a problem with any other pumps at different gas stations with the 86, so I'm chalking it up to that pump at the Kwik mart. Haven't tried to fill up the 86 at that gas station since then, so who knows?

Yeah there's a Chevron station around here that I need to get the pump nozzle inserted at exactly the right angle or else it won't even start pumping, and then it pumps far slower than any other station. Unfortunately that is usually the most convenient station for me to go to.

I have been to one or two places with my other vehicles that pump really slow...I mean "REALLY" slow. One was a Sams Club that was up in Castle Rock and it was going so slow, I started timing it. About a gallon per minute, I kid you not. Having a nearly empty 30 gallon tank that day, I moved on after five minutes. There is another place that has been nearly that slow in my neighborhood and I have not returned to that place since they first opened. Those pumps had that extra sleeve to contain the vapors...

I do prefer Costco, but usually have to combine that fill up with errands as the two Costcos here in Colorado Springs are not quite in my neighborhood.
