Best 86 feature ever

Intermittent wipers...

First time it's rained on my 86, and this is the first car I've had in 10 years without rain sensors... And I LOVE IT!
I've always hated rain sensors - they never work properly, and that's been on my VW, my Porsche, my Honda and BMW.

It was so good to just dial the intermittentancy myself (is that a word lol).

Ok maybe best is an exaggeration.... But what's been a feature you really liked that's maybe not so obvious.

It's a standard toyota feature (well all the ones I've driven, plus my current Aurion).

I completely agree with you x 100000.

i hate the rain sensors. it's useless. always faster than i need!!! Just some good old adjustible intermittent wipers are all i need.

i don't like auto headlight as well.

I love the fact that you can wind up the windows when you've turned the car off until you open the door. Granted my old car had this kind of feature too but too few modern cars have it.

I've never owned a car with auto wipers, but you cant manually adjust them? Thats useless. What if the sensor fails, are you stuffed?

you can have it on all the time but you can't really adjust the intermittent speed. it is always faster than you need.

Hmm my parents have a 335i and i swear you can adjust the speed, dont have to use the auto function.

But on the side note i really like the rain sensors; hate having to readjust the speed according to my speed

when i took one for a test drive the one i liked was the button to fold the side mirrors in.

they do but i can only speak from my experience with VW, the dial does bugger all.

Well my Mini changes the speed of it depending on the speed I am going, but adjustments to that are according to what I chose. It also increases and decreases the speakers depending on speed.
I really like those.

This thread reminds me of those car ads where air conditioning is hyped as an added feature. I've never owned a car without intermittent wipers I think even my J40 had them and it didn't have a windscreen. :D

But then I've never driven a car with rain sensors (in the rain anyway).

The intermittent wipers on my NC MX5 is just a single speed, somewhere between too fast and too slow.

It's the little things like this that just gets under my skin about the 5. I also use it as my daily drive, so at least I have an excuse to not go to Ikea or Bunnings so I save money on flatpack crap or power tools i really have no need for. :)
