Has anyone had or are currently having the recall work done at Stevens Creek Subaru? A service advisor there told me they’ve done “quite a few” and they currently have 40 cars waiting to have the work done. I’m curious about how well they are doing the work.
Thx

No experience at Stevens Creek but just dropped my car off at Premier Subaru in Fremont. As others had already mentioned, dropped in with no appointment and got a Hertz Rental. The service advisory said the car might be ready by next Wednesday or Thursday. I dropped it off Thursday. They said there are 3 techs working on just that issue.

Will update when I get the car back.

Saw this in another thread. Also had it semi-confirmed by a friend of a friend who works at DMV. Anyone else that can be more confirmation then that?

It won't come up until the car needs to go in for smog certification and it will fail the smog check because of a note in the system. For 2013 cars the earliest that will happen is April of 2020. And even then, lots of empty threats and little follow through because shits expensive yo.

Not going to great details but we just lost another one recently. The owner had the recall done in Feb and rarely drove it since, until last week. His clue of something gone wrong was a pop in the motor. He immediately pulled over and that was it. Engine is on fire.

Moral of the story, you hear or feel something wrong, pull over immediately!

Damn. This is a little too common. Think it makes 2 or 3 now?

Update. Picked the car up this morning. Got home which is about 6 miles from the dealership and knocking sounds appear with engine light blinking. Car dies while trying to idling. Called the dealer (Premier Subaru in Fremont) and had the car towed back. They gave me another loaner while I wait to hear from them about what they find...

Oh wow, blinking CEL usually means misfire... not good at all.

They checked the car and are now saying it has something to do with the engine harness. Service advisor said the tech found that when he wiggled one of them the engine will cut off at idle... does that sound legit?

To me it seems to me there’s a knocking sound come from the engine but I’m not expert.

I just had mine done at Modesto Subaru this past week and had them change my spark plugs, clutch and flywheel . I got my car back on Wednesday afternoon and drove it home thinking all was good. Now every time I start the car there is either a rattle/ grinding coming from either the engine or transmission and it is very noticeable.

I have an appointment this Tuesday for them to check it but I'm not gonna drive it until then in risk of breaking something.

I've been out of the loop, what qualifies you for the fix and how do I know to bring it in? 2013 Subaru here and my engine doesn't die randomly or anything weird. I just had my throwout bearing replaced and that put a real ding in my wallet. I hope they do something about that also.

Check your VIN here:

I don't think you'll get any signs of the issue before it fails so you would want to get it down ASAP.

You should have got a letter. Otherwise call your local Subaru service department and ask them to check your VIN and see if you are part of the recall

Thanks, my car is affected and I scheduled an appointment... now I'm regretting bringing in the car to fix my throwout bearing at a mechanic. I'm curious if they would've gave me a deal if I brought this in with the throwout bearing issue and recall.

You would have saved on labor costs.
