This is the Norcal version of this thread lol

Has anyone gone to Capital Toyota? I'm not in the recall, just curious. The service guys there were really good to me when I bought my car, and put on all my TRD stuff for me. Even let me go in the garage and look at everything when the car was on the lift.

Dropped mine off at Fremont Subaru on Monday with no appointment. Received a free rental from Hertz and was driving home within an hour from showing up. Confirmed with the SA that they don't care what exhaust is on there - anything that comes off goes back on when they're done. ETA was said to be about a week. I asked who was doing the work on these cars. The SA mentioned that they have two techs who are working on just this recall full time.

Picked the car up on Friday 3/1 for a total of 12 days. Fremont Subaru probably could have had it done in 10 days but they found that I had a leaking head gasket on the left side as well as a broken cam spring of some sort. The cam spring is not a part I am familiar with but maybe it has something to do with the valve timing. All in all, I was out $1200 bucks but it could have been far worse if the motor was not already out for the recall.

I am however annoyed that when picking my car up and looking over all the work they did, I noticed that the tech had snapped my engine cover off in a manner that broke the tabs. Upon delivery, the engine cover was just placed on top of the motor but easily would have rattled off and possibly interfered with the belts or fallen onto the exhaust. I also found that I was missing many pop rivets and fasteners on the splash plate below the motor. I made all of this clear to the dealership before leaving. I've been checking in regularly but I'm getting ghosted - by a dealership.

No freaking clue what they are referring to when saying "cam spring". Service managers are so clueless when explaining what is going on. There is a little spring in the cam gears that is known to pop off but that isn't your freaking problem that it popped off while they were handing your car. I had one of these little springs pop off one of my gears while doing a rebuild but I just put it back together and all is well. I don't trust the dealers at all, especially after seeing all the BS people are going through. They probably screwed you out of $1200.

Do you have some documentation of what they did along with part numbers?

I'm scheduled at Concord Toyota on May 7. Soonest they can get me in. Not my daily driver so no worries. They told me they only do three per month and that only techs certified to do the recall work perform them. If anyone else has had their recall done here I would be interested in hearing your feedback. Thanks.

Brought my car into Capitol Subaru in SJ in the middle of January. I was in a Chevy Suburban loaner for about 6 weeks and got my car back last week.

My engine cover also had broken tabs and was sitting loose and crooked upon pick up. I pointed it out to my service advisor and he ordered a new one for me.

I noticed last night that something sounded like it was dragging when coming off a freeway off ramp. The part of the fender liner that connects to the front bumper is torn. I suspect that it might be due to broken tabs as well.

Guess I'll be taking my engine cover off. That sticker I got from @MyRx is too much to replace lol

Okay so that is a cam gear. So it was the little spring that sits behind the little trap door that popped off. That is common to happen on these gears. This isn’t really something they did wrong. It’s just a crap design on the gears.
