used springs
i just came up on some eibach sportlines for free. they had about 20k miles on them. was wondering if it would be ok to put on my 2018 brz they came off a 2013 brz.
do springs go bad? |
I think springs can lose stiffness over hundreds of thoussands of miles, but springs with 20k are completely fine.

The issue you are going to have isn't that the springs are old, but that they are Sportlines. That is about the limit of drop for just springs. You will have very limited suspension travel and geometry issues at the limit (hitting bump stops, bump steer, etc).
Then again, you can't fault something that is free. For a daily driver on smooth roads, you are good to go. If you don't like the ride, you can always go back to the old setup. No harm done. |
They can but it is usually easy to tell. Decent quality heat treated spring are usually hard enough that they will break before they ever lose their tension.

That looks like some kids took a torch to the springs to lower the car.
