Hello all, I'm looking for recommendations for a car "duster".

In fact they are handy for most electronics in general (but not directly on circuit boards obviously). Cleaning out a PC or a fan or car vents/dash those wipes are fantastic.

Yep I use these for my interior and they work well for a quick cleanups between my quarterly deep interior cleans.

I was assuming OP meant for the exterior of his car for dust/traffic film... if so:

The key to minimizing scratches and swirls is lubrication. Use a good quality CLEAN microfiber and a detailing spray.

I personally use the 480GSM Eagle edgeless towel from the rag company, and Carpro ECH2o waterless wash diluted 1:20. Excellent product and leaves a streak-free finish. I use this combo for my final wipe-down after every wash.

If you're not into mixing your own detailing sprays I have used Meguiars Ultimate Quik detailer (note, NOT spray wax) with good results. I just found it much more expensive than buying concentrates.

Yeah externally I dont dust, in the few times I do I used just a general microfiber towel. I used to have an extremely dusty garage so I feel OPs pain. What I did is after EVERY wash I give a strong coat of wax from a spray on wax, I spray the shit out of the car and rub it in, which leaves swirls from excess wax. Then I use another micro fiber cloth thats clean and go over it again for a great finish. This makes the dust not stick to the car as much and you can casually wipe it off with even a semi dirty microfiber cloth without worry of scratches due to the wax.

Best solution if possible is good coat of wax + car cover to avoid dust in the first place. If its from driving around then your only options are heavy coat of wax and microfiber towels.

California duster

I prefer these. I keep one in my glovebox. The fluffiness makes it much better at getting into all the nooks and crannies and curves of the interior, whereas the others people posted are more like wipes that take a lot more work to use. 30 seconds going over the interior with this every few days keeps the dust at bay.

If fits in the glovebox if you don't "assemble" the handle. I only use the half of the handle that the duster things mount to. And one duster thing lasts months before you need to swap it out.

For a lightly dusty exterior, I would use a nice and high-quality microfiber towel and just wipe it off with little to no pressure. Make sure that your car is coated with some wax to reduce the chance of adding swirl marks to the finish.

For the interior I use a lower quality microfiber towel and some Meguair's interior detailer spray for everything.

Or a blower of some sorts if it’s in your budget

My car is not my daily driver and it sits in my garage all shiny. I keep my paint smooth and clean. The problem is it gets dusty. I originally used a microfiber towel but I was looking for a better alternative. My research came up with the California duster. It works great. you make very little contact with the paint and I can remove the dust from the entire car in seconds. I watched this video for the proper technique.

I only wish I found it 3 decades ago. I'm the same. My car is almost always clean except for the dust. Nice video!
