Anyone around Long Island,NY wanna do a Viper install?

As the title says, would anyone around the long island, nj, connecticut area wanna help me or install a viper alarm for me? Its the 5704 alarm and remote start and its going on a 6spd frs, so itd need a relay. Let me know how much youd charge as well. Id prefer to have someone who owns an frs/brz and has done an install before rather then some random local shop do it.

if you havent already purchased it I would advise against it... vipers suck ass to install and there are others out there a lil better for the same or less money.

Really? A bunch of my buddies have vipers and they all love them. I already bought the alarm.

What other brand would you recommend? A 2-way alarm with remote start is my next purchase. I want something really good that if anybody puts their hands on my car she starts screaming lol... My friend has a 5701 and he says if he kicks the car it doesn't sound the alarm. Also that if you want extra sensitive features you have to purchase extra sensors for the alarm..

You wanna be careful with how sensative you want your alarm. For example, for the majority of the time I'm down in florida, i dont want my alarm to be so sensative that everytime theres a thunderstorm or heavy rain it goes off, we get a lot of that. I myself am gonna be using a shock sensor, audio sensor, and tilt sensor. My only concern is that the audio sensor may get tripped during thunderstorms.

Thats true.. But in NY I'd rather be bothered with a ringing alarm than having somebody trying to steal my mirror or gas door. I mention that scenario because it happened to me once already with a G37S I had before this.. My second G37xS somebody tried stealing the mirror from my driveway but it looks like this guy was an amateur because the alarm sounded. I just want something if somebody does try something stupid I'll be alerted.

Thats true. In that case you could look into proximaty sensors. They set the alarm off if anyone stands by ur car for x amount of time. Pretty sure u can set them to give a warning chirp first, and if the person continues to stand there it sets the alarm off. I remember in High School some kid in a miata had shock sensors that would set off too easily. I used to pull up next to it, rev my motor and my exhaust would set his alarm off.

Lmao!! :lol:I used to do the same while riding on the CBR1000 I used to have lol... I guess this alarm thing is going to be more expensive than I thought if I have to purchase all of these extra sensors..

Cool thanks for the info.. Which model did you go with? Looking at the prices there's a big difference in price between the different models.

I got the Viper 5704, with the Install Essentials Tilt sensor and a Direct Electronics audio sensor. Cant comment if i like it or not cuz its not installed but if i dont find someone to install it for me by sunday ima give it a go myself.

cruzinbill 08-01-2012 02:51 AM

i would say go with an autopage or a i think its encore... which is same as the autopages just cheaper with a different remote. Anyway, autopages are much easier to install and using the same over all wiring as most other manufactors where viper kinda does there own thing.
