Helix Side Marker gone bad
 

Its been 8 months and these side markers did not make their 1st year. Anyway I decided to remove them and change out the burned LED bulbs when this happened...

Interesting, mine are 18 months old and seem to be holding up fine.

yes, the glue is crap. some 2-part clear epoxy will do much better.

oh crap its soundman from HIDPLANET. And yea, they probably used Elmer's school glue :D. Im probably going to ditch them and go back to the amber ones and tint them dark smoke.

i pulled my set of helix's apart 3 years ago. with my hands. one day i'll design the led boards for them!

my helix sidemarker covers came off after a hard bump on the road... missing both lenses now lol so i went back to OEM.

and this is why u stick with the OEM JDM clear ones... lol

One of my Helix ones also came like that. As a temporary fix, run a bead of plastic cement / plastic JB weld.

Then reseal with silicone

My right one fit nicely into the fender, left one though was another story. after fighting with the fender clip for an hour I managed to get the marker out and put the helix in, but now about 2mm of the helix end is out of the fender lol

And this is why we stick to the OEM JDM ones ...

i've got the circuit board printed and etched, mostly just procrastinating/thinking about thermal connection methods. debating mineral oil and a radiator...

i've since also designed the marker light boards...

otherwise, i keep putting off the massive parts order i need to complete it, just better things to spend the money on for a while.

my first brz focus is patching/painting a replacement trunk lid, and modifing an r35 gt-r spoiler to fit. after that, it's custom louvers, coilovers, wheels, and bbk, in that order. then i can maybe get back to the lighting.

i was going to work on the trunk lid last weekend, but a rogue concrete laundry tub, fritzy humidifier, and a leaf in a blower motor got in the way!

Mine split after 4 years. I just superglued them back together.

Have mine for almost 5 years so far with no issues.

I do agree that the OEM JDM versions are far more superior than these.
