EL Headers “plug and play”
EL Headers (any) - are they “plug and play”? Are just some of them easy to install at home? If not what do I need to do in order to fit them to the stock exhaust? Looking to get the HKS with catalyzer. If there is anything better that doesn’t require a tune I’m open for suggestions. Not looking to upgrade the whole exhaust system right now.

They're all easy and able to be installed at home. 8 bolts and 3 gaskets iirc. Literally all you gotta do is take all those bolts off, replace headers, replace gaskets (use new gaskets) and tighten nuts and bolts. Then tune for it and listen to the sweet music that comes out the ass of your car.
@KingJon1991 fixed with new gaskets ;) Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk |
took me about 30 mins to do make sure you have new gaskets

You will definitely need a tune with an aftermarket header. |

Does the greemspeed gasket will fit the HKS headers? |

The real question is if I can drive without a tune and just ignore the cel or will it affect the performance instead of making it better. Beautiful car btw! |
Installing catless header has great chance for cat readiness CEL after a time to pop-up, unless those checks are disabled in tune. Not killing thing though, as it will only mean that cruise control will be disabled.

So if I get an OFT and flash the ecu back and forth they wouldn’t know? Sounds awesome. Headers here does not void the warranty (well they do but the mechanics at the dealership don’t know anything about these cars because they do not get them a lot. we only have 150 brzs in the country) the only thing I need to worry about is if I flash the ecu back to stock and a cel pops up that they will check it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Don't mess with it.
end thread. |

Well I will regret for asking.. Why not? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Grimmspeed has gaskets for the whole exhaust AFAIK, and more.
I just got the header gaskets for $23 on Amazon. I also got the 3inch, but it was the wrong size for headers (my turbo exhaust is 3" so mistakenly got 3"). I believe you just need a 2.5" gasket for headers to downpipe or whatever they are calling thing connecting the headers to front pipe. You also need header gaskets, just Google brz grimmspeed header gaskets and you'll find em easy. Not tuning it may decrease performance as it will likely alter the afr, etc depending on the design vs stock. I'm a car newb still, but I know you need to tune for most upgrades done to the engine.
