AB 1824 changed CVC 40610 to add 40610(b)(4) making citations under CVC 27150 and 27151 a non-correctable violation. No law changed. Any exhaust that was legal is still legal, and if it wasn't legal it still isn't. Now instead of paying the $25 court fee after having the ticket signed off you pay a fine of around $200 (may vary by county)

There are claims going around of people with stock exhausts getting ticketed. A Z guy and an M4 guy.
The 350Z exhaust is pretty loud stock. Not too sure about the M4. The law was enforced immediately when it was passed some time last year. The video that everyone is panicking about went viral last weekend, but they were pull over sometime in late November I think.
I've driven by cops with my exhaust , which is pretty loud, since the law has passed and was not pulled over.
I think in some areas since the start of the new year, some cops have been on steroids.

*Just reposting from what I posted in NorCal forums

Going to add this here for information: http://www.courts.ca.gov/documents/2...?1546290674434

Page #41 shows that cvc 27150/27151 are still ~$200 each fine unless you were classified with an exhaust that has a whistle tip which then is $1000 fine (27150.3 a/b).

modified exhaust = cutting off a muffler or resonator, adding glasspacks or turbo whistles, etc.

the law does not ban aftermarket exhausts that do not exceed 95db

I think what no one has listed but is mentioned in the video is, that you'll have to go to the state ref and have your car inspected. Doesn't affect me (military) but can be a huge hassle for most people.

I have a Greddy Supreme Sp catback--84db. Even though I have a supercharger, the noise is within the law.

I really don't get the loud exhaust thing. Seems juvenile. Don't get me wrong, I love the sound of a sport bike or a F1 car revving to 18,000 rpms, but I wouldn't want the whole world making so much noise. Save the sound for the track. I get a lot of sound from my BRZ and Ducati within the decibel limits.

Wonder how often motorcycles get cited for any sort of exhaust violation. Sure seems that laws like this don't apply the same to motorcycles and domestic cars.

A lot of bikes get license plate and exhaust tickets. The stock exhausts often come with exhaust flaps that partially close at high rpms.

Here is a nice brief article from motortrend regarding the issue

https://www.motortrend.com/news/cali...-need-to-know/

I love car performance.. but I also love piece & quiet at appropriate times. I have EL headers & Nvidia q300 on my car; I try to be respectful to my neighbors.

There is a BRZ in the next street over , im sure its running header , no cat , no resonators , high flow exhaust ..the entire neighborhood can feel the rumble rumble daily at 6am.

Same with noise complaints ... Many people think it only applies after 10pm. It applies anytime of the day, but many nieghbors won't call cops after 12am or even 10pm

Trust me I love Califrnia, lived here my whole life, but it's changing...

Yeah, thank you to those states for that...it's gone so well
