Reliability on turbo 86
Hello guys, I have thought of puting a turbo on my 86 for a long time and I am keen on the FBM turbo kits. I want my car to be as reliable and as fast as possible. So what do you guys think is the best power range for a reliable turbo FA20 with swapped internals? I'm going to put 9:1 compression ratio pistons.
Any feedback would be really apreciated! Sent from my SM-A520F using Tapatalk |
Replace the con rods and you should be good. And keep the boost around 10

The con rods have been found the weak link, as he said you do not need to lower compression. Really all depends on how much you want to spend. The trans wasn't built for big power

It may be worth noting also that aftermarket rods rarely fit factory pistons. Without personal experience, I don't want to recommend a rod that I -think- fits stock. I would love to hear from anyone who has successfully only replaced the rods and left everything else alone, but that seems too easy.

You can get aftermarket Pistons and still maintain 12 to 1 compression

just needs a chamfer adding to replicate the shape of the stock rod, it still leaves plenty of strap thickness for 8000rpm |
