Bump Start?

I think I have a flat spot on my starter motor. Once before in the last week I went to start it and nothing happened. I thought the battery in the remote was dead (I have the push start) so I moved it closer to the pocket in the center console and then the car started. Today same thing happened but it isn't the remote. I can actually hear the click of the starter bendix drive the gear forward but then nothing. Just to get the car home I need to move the starter motor a tiny bit and I was thinking if I got the car rolling and popped the clutch while hiting the start button it might be enough to move it.

Anyone know of a reason why this wouldn't work before I try it? I'm trying to minimize my experimenting time because it is pissing rain outside.

Turn the ignition on but don't start it. Get the car rolling and pop the clutch in 2nd gear. No need to hit the start button. If the car senses that you are moving, it will not engage the starter anyway. If it did while everything was spinning, it would strip the ring gear or the starter.

Get your car battery checked. Could just be weak. It might need some distilled water added to it.

Thanks.

Battery is a couple month old AGM. It shows 13.7v so I don't have any reason to suspect it at this point.

Tap the top of the starter motor near the back side. It's likely that the brushes are worn. Maybe you already know that.

If you're already going to the trouble of popping the clutch, just start it that way. Second gear works better than first.

As a follow up, I never tried bump starting it. Went back in to work to try and when I hit the button to go into On everything died. Jump started it and all was fine. Got home, went to swap out my summer battery and the instant my wrench touched the negative terminal my hardwired underhood lights went out. Turns out I never tightened the negative terminal after my supercharger install. Terminal wasn't loose, like at all, but apparently didn't have enough contact to run normally.
