Got the recall info in the mail today

I got my BRZ recall in the mail today and am awaiting the green light to book an appointment.. should I be jumping on any opportunity to have them install something aftermarket while doing the fix? What would you guys recommend

I'd recommend not asking the dealer to do anything aftermarket... Labor cost would be stupid expensive!

Can we just take a minute to acknowledge your internet win?

You're the first official one.

This^^^^^^^^
Even I wouldn't get aftermarket parts put on at my dealer and I actually trust and like them.

Canada EH! They only need to send out about 12 notices and should have all the cars done in an afternoon.

I would recommend doing nothing of the sort.

Dealers are getting paid by the manufacturer for a recall, but the pay rate will likely be very lean, leaving very little room for the dealer to get some game time money. If you've never heard of game time, here is how it goes: Book time is 6 hours to do ______, tech does it in 4.5, 1.5 hour becomes pure profit. Book time for the recall will be VERY optimised. They're not going to lose money, but they'll be working for the bare minimum.

You will NOT be getting any "while we're at it" good graces, you will likely get full book time for any other work you have done with very little consideration for overlap.

Definitely not, local guy on facebook dropped his car off on Thursday, doubt he was the first either.

I guess first ft86club post with it is something tho...

Subaru Canada has not demonstrated having a grasp on this issue, at least the IT weenie who responded to my query. Apparently S of C's website cannot direct refence a VIN for recall info. I called as instructed, with the query and the pertinent information. About a week late some weenie called me back and took ten minutes to tell me that no TSB or recall is affecting our 2013 BRZ. I politely pointed out to him that it is already on Transport Canada's recall list. To no avail, in his mind there was no recall applicable. The paper recall notice arrived in the mail the next day, so it was already in process. All the notice states is it is applicable, but no solution is in place yet (read that no parts available and we are trying to figure out how to do it on the cheap). At less than 9000kms, we probably have the lowest mileage 2013 out there. I hope they hurry up, the super charger kit is sitting on the bench awaiting install. That was to be one of my winter projects, but now will have to wait until Subaru is completed.
