Rear-ended is it totaled?

Hey Guys, was recently in my first ever accident. Was curious to see what you think of the damage and if it’s totaled or not. Insurance is taking their sweet time so just want to see if I should start looking for another car. And if fixable how bad will it affect my resale value? Thanks in advance.

Hey man, bummer about getting hit. It's more than likely not totaled, same spot and exact same looking damage on mine about 4 months ago and it cost under $8000 CAD through insurance. Here's the thread if you haven't seen it http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=129956

Too bad about your accident - :(

It would be helpful if you would move the camera back a few feet.

Glad you're ok.

Looks repairable but there could be much more unseen damage.

the car is probably repairable but hard to say without knowing mileage of the car, as for the resale value its going to take a huge hit so you need to look into your states law about diminished value claims.

Diminished value claims?... *cries in Canadian*

Oh i see this is the first time I have heard of diminished value claims i live in Texas so it says "Texas Diminished Value Claim. In the state of Texas, if you are in a auto wreck and the accident was not your fault you are entitled to file a insurance claim for Diminished Value. The statute of limitations on filing a Diminished Value claim in Texas with your insurance is two years from the date of loss." so how do i go about getting the claim is it after the repair or do I make the claim now? and the cars mileage was around 56000 miles.

though hard to tell from the pics, it doesn't look like that bad of a hit so I'm gonna say the insurance co will want to repair it..

gonna need to wait until the car is deemed repairable or totaled before going through the diminished value claim which are sometimes a PITA to go through from my experience. is your car paid off in full?

Alright they said they’ll be checking it out sometime this week I’ll update the post when they reach a verdict. And yes the car was paid off in full.
