PADA is doing our first winter lapping day at the (in)famous Minden ice track up north in Ontario.

If you have winter tires, be sure to come out an enjoy some structured hooning! PADA personnel will be there to marshal and make sure everyone has a great time.

Interesting...I've never done an ice day on a dirt based track...only lakes. How does the track hold up?

It holds up very well. This track is maintained specifically for ice racing so they actively keep it maintained.

In fact, the day after our day they will be having an ice race so they have already advised us that we need to make sure we forbid studs and chains in order not to ruin the ice.

No studs? Better hope for that narrow, magic temperature range where the ice is juuust soft enough for a rubber tire to bite into it.. :)

All the more fun it'll be to 'find the limits' then :D

We have a couple of trucks on the sidelines just waaaaiting to see who needs a tow.

Used to do ice racing on this track until I ran out of money :( Ran in the studless class and tires do stick...kind of... :thumbup:

I'm sure the organizers will emphasize that this is not a raceday...and those who cant listen to instructions will find out by turn 1.

Needless to say, this would be an excellent learning experience for those who treat it as such.

This is NOT a race. No rubbing. Everyone goes home with their car minus a little less gas and nothing else. It is a fantastic opportunity to see what your car does on ice without risk of a crash. That's the point.

We had everything from a BRZ, couple of trucks, a FJ Cruiser, plenty of Focus RS'es, BMWs, an Echo hatch, Golf Rs and one stealthy Prius.

I was too busy/lazy/forgot to slap on my GoPro for the day (derp).

We did film a Track Attack Canada video during the lunch break. One AWD 300hp Benz vs a 5 man relay team of skaters. WHO WINS?
