Door/Window Seal Fixes?

I've searched this topic for weeks now and still can't find a good fix for this issue. I have a MY13 so it's definitely out of warranty.

The window has pushed my driver and passenger door seals up, it's rolled now and pulling away. I didn't notice this until my window tint started getting pushed down and now it looks terrible.

While researching this issue I've seen some people put some coax or something on the seal. I bought some backer rod foam from my hardware store and stuck it on there. It helped, but doesn't solve the issue.

Any help with this? I'd have to get my windows re-tinted and don't want it to mess it up again.

I haven't managed to get it unrolled once it starts. I just silicone spray the hell out of the seal and that keeps it playing reasonably nice with the window. No issues with my tint as well.

It'd probably be a better long term solution to replace the seal than f*cking around with a rolled one trying to fix it.

Just replace the window seal.
It pulls away from the frame very easily and you don't need any tools at all. It's held in with small clips (included when you buy a new one) and just pushes into place.
It can be replaced in under 15 minutes.

I'm in the "replace" camp - :)

I've messed with it a bit and pulled it off once so I know it's easy. Based on the search in the past threads I've read that replacing it doesn't really help since it'll happen again. Those who have replaced them under warranty from their dealers.

This is because the earlier models (MY15 and earlier) the rails, rollers, switch or something needs an adjustment because of the window drop is too much or something.

Here's why the seal rolls up.

1. early 13 MYs window index was 2 cm so, with each door open/close the window rubs through the top of the seal. Both door switches must be replaced with updated ones set to index only 1 cm.

2. Window is too tight. Requires alignment to ease it out a little. Not trivial. I've spent a great deal of time getting familiar with how the mechanism 'likes' to be aligned.

I had to wedge vinyl tubing between the seal to stiffen it so my window wouldn't roll it up on my '13. Not an issue with my '17.

This is interesting— I’ll have to try this! Did it solve the issue on your 13?

It reduced it, but the seal has already been deformed at this point.

My seal has deformed as well. Do you have any issues with the vinyl tubing coming out?

I used the foam backing rod based on another post but since it's foam it's starting to "flatten" and do the same thing.

Also since I didn't use tape or glue whenever I drove with the window down the wind would hit the backing rod foam and it would detach from the seal so I'd have it flapping around until I pulled over to fit it back in place.

i run into wind noises after 100-110mph, if i put any pressure on the window (pushing outward) the noise gets worse... i wonder if its because of the seal.

I have the same problem and car feels really light. Did you fix it?
