The timing cover leak was asked a month ago and answered several times the new question was the tranny and diff.

Oh sorry I missed where several people already pointed out the alternative fix for the guy who just started working on cars who probably has no business pulling his timing cover. Carry on. ;)

OK, OK I'll give you partial credit and downgrade that from a senior moment to a brain fart.

Well, I was afraid of that - :sigh:

Allow me to explain about "brain farts" and "senior moments".

Brain farts are Precursors to senior moments.

A person of any age can have a brain fart.

As a person ages, senior moments become more frequent than brain farts.

How to tell the difference. A person realizes, when it's brought to their attention, that they have had a brain fart.

When a person has a senior moment, they don't realize it. In fact, they will deny it and argue that it ever happened.

Five guys go out drinking. Four are heavy drinkers, one is an alcoholic. The alcoholic drinks so much that he has a "blackout". The next morning the other four guys tell the fellow that had a blackout, what he did and said (while he was blacked out). Although he can't remember, he argues with them that he never said or did those things.

Therefore - what were we talking about??

Actually it goes like this:
"I have a leak"
"Here is a cheap and easy fix for your leak"

Nowhere in this thread did he say he fixed the leak and no where did anyone give advice on fixing it. Sure people said it's common and to ignore it. Okay, ignore it if you enjoy oil blowing all over your engine bay collecting dirt.

I can only assume his leak is unresolved so my post was on topic, yours however was just wasted space.

I assume they'll figure out what to do with the timing chain cover at the dealership when they take apart my engine... I'm subject to the almighty valve springs recall.

Regarding the gearbox oil, I'll try topping it off to see if it does change anything. (I put 2.15l in the gearbox as the manual states). Runs great when warmed up, terrible when cold.

This requires me to assume the existence of non-wasted space. That's quite a leap.

I've just changed my tires and diff oil for the second time and I'm experiencing some very strange behaviours from my car...

The rear end acts very strangely. When I step on the gas (rather frankly) it feels like the front is lifting up and I'm loosing accuracy in the steering. Then, when I release the gas pedal, on decel, the car slightly steer on the left.
On the highway the car's behaviour is also quite strange.

Could that just be the tires? MPS4.
It feels like it's related to the diff but it's very hard to tell. And I guess even a diff running with no oil wouldn't cause that...

Tire pressure? Car is VERY sensitive to uneven pressure.


If not pressure, have alignment checked. Squatting under accel is normal. Will feel strange if not familiar with RWD.

Definitely familiar with RWD/LSD, been driving the car for five years now and never experienced such thing...

The car sees small drifts and powerslide on a daily basis. I'm wondering if it has an impact on the diff.
Anyway, it's probably the new front tires. MP4S always take several hundreds kilometers to break in.
