Project Restore Life

Well to start off, I bought a 2015 Subaru BRZ Series Blue. It's a flood car and my intention is around a 700hp ls2 street build. But for now I'm just trying to get the car back going like factory before I swap it.
The previous owner replaced the computers due to the flood but some things still aren't working. The cluster doesn't come on. The car will not go into accessory mode or run or start. The hazard indicators flash in the cluster when their on. The cluster, the clock, the radio, the power windows, the heated seats all do not work. The lights, interior lights, horn, hazards all work fine. The car just won't turn on. (The obd port does get power too) Ive replaced all 3 ecms, checked all fuses, made sure the battery was good, tried holding key to start button, nothing is working. [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5KOtsy0Zfg[/ame] The obd 2 port does work. when I put a dongle on there it lights up. But I thought you had to be in the "on" position to be able to program anything. In this pic #1, #6 and #7 were replaced. Would them not being programmed cause the cluster not to light up? I assumed it still would. maybe even turn over, just not start. But the previous owner told me its because all the computers need to be programmed that's causing this. The Toyota dealership in my town said they can't reprogram mine that only a Subaru dealership can (which i don't have in my town) I've checked all the fuses and swapped around some relays. I've put the original computers back in and switched out every combination of the three. Kind of clueless where to go from here. I don't wanna take it to the dealer for program and them tell me something else is wrong and charge me anyway |
Well it looks like I may go ls3 Instead of ls2 because I found a company in Australia that sells a plug n play ecm for 500 bucks and everything works
|
good luck

This is why I was a little biased to the LS2, here is my old GTO. [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LARnhiwkOV0[/ame] But after talking with the Australian company, they have an affordable plug and play setup for a LS3 where everything works. for the LS2 only most things work. So I'm currently sourcing a LS3 drive train and researching cams because I want this one to sound even more of a beast than my GTO. |
plug and play LS3 setup doesn't sound too bad! What company offers the kit??

https://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=441667 That's my old car. Best car I ever owned hands down. Had a street sweeper HT cam in mine and it sounded nasty. You always want a bigger cam though, lol. |

Alright, I got the swap ordered. LS3’s are considerably more than LS2’s. It should be here by Christmas. Now I get to do a little research and find a cam I want. As well as list things I should do to the eng before I install it into the car.

Well I called all 3 dealers that are around me. The earliest one has an opening is next Saturday (15th) I gotta rent a trailer to take it over there (2 hrs away) and hopefully just recoding is all it needs to get the cars basic functions back.
I have techstream and a cable that should be here hopefully by tomorrow so that I can play with it a little bit and see if I can figure some things out. |
Good luck with your swap!

Techstream didn't come in today so i tried my cheap little blutooth adapter. You can see obd has power. just cant get into on mode to read anything. Hopefully techstream will let me in to see a few things. I made an apt with the dealer 2hrs away for next saturday the 15th. [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUjSle82qWQ[/ame] |
