Electric BRZ

My brother in law came to town with his Tesla 3P and it is an eye opener. Acceleration, stopping power, drive ability.... wow

Makes me wonder what that drive train in our BRZ's would be like. From what I experienced... bring it on!

And how much did the Tesla cost?

Yep.
I'm assuming it was around $40k.
I could find/build a car that is just as good for the same price or cheaper.

Umm... I'm having a tough time thinking of a $40k budget car that can do 0-60 in ~3.5 seconds like the M3P can. :iono:

The only one that springs to mind is a previous gen TT RS w/ DSG, but we never got that stateside.

Your thinking of factory specs times. You can always add a turbo/super charger to an existing car.

And just for shits and giggles a '15 M3 did 0-60 in 4 secs. That's was Car and Dirvers test. Not bad eh?
Your google-fu is weak.

But I'm not going on a pising contest on electric motor vs engines. What I'm pointing out is what you can have for the same price of a tesla

Except that it is heavy and expensive it's in last positions in reliability!

He got lots of the options and his came in around $70k

Subaru leadership already indicated electric/hybrid will appear in future generations of STI. They can't meet future emissions requirements with gas only technology for the STI

Electric drive tech price will continue to drop. Perhaps where it will be feasible at a price point for BRZ.

By the time battery tech gets far enough to give a lightweight, tossable, affordable, long range, 86 like sports car, people will no longer be behind the wheel anyway. I will however be dead so will not be able to say "I told you so"

My friend who is an egotistical physicist wants to convert his 2001 Celica to an electric motor by himself. He has no automotive tech experience/mechanical engineering experience PLUS he thinks it'll be mega cheap. It wont be mega cheap.

Same goes for an electric converted BRZ... from the electric motor to the drivetrain. Itll take alot of money and time. If you have that money and time go for it.!!! Youll be famous on youtube at least.
