Engine lugging sound?

Hi all - i just wanted to confirm that this noise is normal. I'm 2k miles in right now and the car's been making the sound since I got it. It only happens during low rpms - about 1k - 2k, in 1st gear. I don't feel anything abnormal with driving, it just makes this weird sound. BTW you only need to watch the first 10 seconds, sound is 4 seconds in.

I'm thinking it happens when I'm not gassing enough? My '97 miata responded to lugging by just shaking, the 86 doesn't shake at all.

Well, Kiibiiin, I can't pick anything out of your video.

Your old miata might have been shaking due to clutch shudder, which the 86 doesn't seem to be plagued by.

I would suggest that you just give your car a bit more gas while starting off and don't be afraid of slipping the clutch a bit, till you get the throttle timing down.

Hmm, I'm wondering if its a loose panel somewhere.

I'm aware of how much gas to give it now, just when I drive nothing but the miata for a couple of days it takes a couple minutes to readjust lol, and this noise starts.
