Got a new set of wheels and tires and they don't fit. PLEASE HELP!!
 

I got a set of OptionLab R716 wheels and the size are 18x8.5 +48(offset), bolt pattern & center bore are 5x100 and 73.1. The new tires size are 245/35/R18, I confirmed with the vendor that they said it will fit before I made the purchase, and today at the shop my tech told it doesn't fit for my 2016 Scion 86.

Can someone advice me what to do. Do I need a spacer, center hub, and new lug nuts? If so, what size I should be getting?:thanks:

If i remember correctly, for an 18x8.5 you needed +44 offset for stock suspension to clear the tire. So either you get spacers or switch to coilovers to get the clearance needed. You will need hub centric rings though.

The rears fit. But, add spacers to them that match front spacers.( or the fronts + 3mm to 5mm)

The fronts need a spacer. 3mm minimum. (which is a simple slip spacer- no extended studs needed) Slap 4 of them on. Your look will be nice and conservative.

Or, do you want them flush? Then, IMO, you will need 25mm spacers. They bolt right on easily.

Install a set of camber bolts in the front.

I have 18x9 +30 front with 245/35/18 which have the same poke as 18x8.5 +23. I was lowered 1" with a set of camber bolts set at -1.4. I could have added a little more camber. My rears are 18x9 +27. only 1" springs in the rear.

Thank you for your info! So you think a 5mm spacer would fit the current sizing the wheels and tires?? If I use 20-25mm wouldn't protrude out too much? Any suggestion on the lug nut and center hub ring sizing and brands?

No problem.


Sure, A 5mm will work fine. Though I would highly suggest at least a 10mm spacer; especially if you are going to replace your studs. This will allow you to add some negative camber. Get some camber bolts for the front; they are like $20.


If you use a 20mm spacer, your wheels will either need pockets in the back for the protruding studs, or you will have to shave the studs, or you will need to install extended studs.


For ease of install, (unless your wheels have pockets? do they?) you can either go with a 3mm or a 25mm spacer.


For nutz. Stock work. Gorilla are inexpensive and work great. There are lugs to fit ANY budget. What do you like?


Get a hub ring with an ID of 56.1 and an OD of 73.1. Just search those specs.


With a 25mm spacer, your wheels will have the same poke as mine in the pic. If that pokes too much for you, there is your answer.

The lug nut you recommended is universal that will fit all wheels? I think I might need the skinnier and longer lug nuts. I'm not quite sure of the extract sizing.

I have 12mm spacers. These ones paired with these studs. The spacers are the correct OD. Meaning they are the same outside diameter as the brake hub. (some spacers are slightly larger, which function fine, but look a bit weird) The extended studs will need the hub removed in the rear, the oem studs removed and the new studs pressed in. It is not that hard, but does require a few tools and a place to work. If you are good at turning a wrench, this is easy. If not, then you have a few options. Pay someone to install the studs. Or use a slip 3mm spacer, or bolt-on 25mm spacers. Both are as easy to install as swapping wheels.
