Toyota Vehicles on Notice?

Was reading through this article at work, some of these claims wouldn't surprise me if they actually happened.

Didn't Tada say there are going to be three sports cars in Toyota's line up? How would that be possible if they axed the 86?

86MLR 11-06-2018 05:48 PM

I hope they do axe it.

That may firm up my 2017 Limited Edition resale when I sell it in a year or 3.

Fingers crossed.

Disclaimer: I hold no allegiance to any make, model or brand.

It would be sad to lose the cheapest front engined, RWD and manual vehicle in the market.

I also "assume" the recall with be really bad PR for the twins, maybe another reason to axe the 86.

This could badly effect my resale, guilty by association.

LOL

Meh, next

He never said all 3 would be available in the US.

When WW3 comes you guys would need SUVs and Trucks to get out of dodge anyway.

Till you run out of gas. Or get stuck in line waiting to fill up.
Come on now haven't you played/seen any post apocalyptic games/movies?

If anything you want to be the first ones to go out in the bomb blast. Fuck all that trying to survive shit.

I have three bottles of water and a pack of skittles. Oh, and my trusty tinfoil hat. I'll be ok right?

Meh. If it goes away it just leaves zero cars that interest me if I need to replace this one. Who knows though.

Uhhhhhh, Miata? Base Mustang?

Edit, lol saw location. Whoops

I wouldn't worry - this is all speculation.
The same news was spun in the opposite direction on Jalopnik:

There, the logic went that the 86 would be safe because Toyota needs a halo car to get the young'ns in the dealership (a lesson learned in the years when there were no sports cars in the line up at all).
Moreover, sports cars are rarely volume sellers - most of the time, they are there to burnish brand image.

I don't see Toyota killing the 86 given how much positive change it brought to the brand (especially since bossman Akio Toyoda explicitly wants sports cars in the line up).

At least I hope not.
