How much room is too much between the airbox and intake
 

I just installed a new drop in air filter for my engine. Nothing special, STP filter. To get it back in I unbolted the bottom half of the airbox, put in the filter, then clipped the airbox back together and bolted it down. I don't remember how much gap there was or how much foam was visible before. Can someone tell me if this is too much? Thanks

Too much gap. Unblot it and jiggle it in a bit more. Say sweet words to it and caress softly and gently. A little light spanking doesn't hurt.

Maybe. Maybe not. As long as it slips on easily and the foam isn't crimped, or otherwise jammed, it doesn't really matter. As others above have said, loosen all the mount points and jiggle. Check all around the bottom to make sure it isn't jammed. That's the main thing.
