Finally!

Just saw this on the news today. I called the dealership and they said "there's no recall for your call" I am guessing that's going to come later?

Is your vin number included in the range in the post above yours? If yes the dealer just has not received the notice yet. If no then you will not hear later.

oooo, I think I may have won the faulty valve spring recall lottery, lol. Will have to watch for a notice in the mail.

I spent a while looking for actual failures on the models listed and found nothing. Looks like they identified the possible failure internally and not through actual reported issues. Not that it makes it a better situation for those affected but at least there is some comfort in knowing they are dealing with it.

Dang... I guess I am out. I am 1121. Which means it's an earlier production than the recall cars. This is quite interesting....

Ok so slightly off topic question but I've been searching everywhere and can't find the actual notice/TSB.

How about the revised rocker arms that they came out with for the MY2013 cars? I seem to remember them only replacing if the engine made the ticking/typewriter noise, not an actual recall. Does anyone have a link to this TSB?

If my car is affected by the spring issue and they're going to have the engine apart, should I ask the dealer to put in the revised rocker arms while they're at it?

Ooh that's a good idea, I'll have to remember that if mine needs to go in for this.

Mine is also earlier #, but later date. mine states it was manufactured on 4/12, but my VIN is JF1ZCAC13D16009XX

Welp

"There is a very small possibility of a valve spring fracture in a very small number of affected vehicles, which could lead to engine noise, malfunction or, in a worst-case scenario, an engine stall," Subaru said in a statement. "We are recalling the entire population of vehicles that could possibly be affected out of an abundance of caution. We want our customers to be confident in their vehicles."

Mine falls into the production period (July '13) but looks like my VIN number is okay. #34515

I haven't heard of that one, and don't see it in the pinned TSB list on here. Curious for more info.
