Trunk not opening

Hey everyone!

I did a search and could not find anything regarding this, but am hoping there's an easy DIY method to fix my issues, instead of having to go to the scion dealer.

So I tried to open my trunk this morning with my keys and the light on my keys flashed, but trunk didn't open. Kept trying for a while, then just tried the trunk button inside the car... nothing..

The only thing that works is manually opening the trunk with the actual key. I could only assume that either a wire is loose, or a sensor broke/blocked, or hopefully nothing worse X_x.

Any info would be helpful, otherwise guess I will call the dealer tomorrow :)

*Haven't done any mods to the car, and it's an FR-S, only thing in the trunk is stuff to keep the outside looking shiny :D*

There is a button inside your trunk that disables the button in the cabin and on the key and requires you to manually open the trunk with the key. It is on the left side of the trunk inside.

This, if you toggled the button that is inside the trunk (on the drivers side in the trunk), your keyfob won't work. This is so valets won't steal your shit, I guess.

Actually, its on the right had side, beside the lisence plate lights there is a key place to open it. From there u need to disable that lock located as a button inside the truck in the left side

Great found the button! I didn't even consider that an option since I basically searched everywhere inside and out for a damn button that would deactivate it lol it was well hidden...

My cleaning supplies must have hit it when I was driving "enthusiastically" yesterday :D

Thanks everyone!

I was furious and paranoid that something had happened. And I didnt even know about the keyhole. So i thought my junk was trapped in the back until i pulled down the seats or something.

Rage fist indeed... until i realized my stupidity. I guess thats what happens when i mess around with buttons before researching what they do?

Hey, don't feel bad it happened to a lot of us. I even got listed as number 5 on the first 86 stupid things I did with my car thread for the same reason

When I took delivery of my car the salesman said the keyfob would not open my trunk. He said he assumed it was disabled and he asked ME if I knew how to enable it!
He knew I was a regular on the forum.

Dealerships should be advised of this.

I had to figure out for myself that the trunk has a key and thanks to this wonderful forum, I rectified the switch situation.

I initially also had trouble finding the trunk key insert... Luckily, my intelligent teenage neighbor saw me frustrated and so he decided to point it out... :bellyroll:
