No front plate ticket!

Only a warning, and it was in a small town but now I need to decide if I'm going to put a plate on or not. :( |
Poor you, going to have to follow the rules. #firstworldproblems

Lol. Dont ever post anything. #everythingintheusisafirstwprldproblem
#youreanidiot Posted this up because there was a discussion about if we would get tickets for this since lots of sportscars don't run front plates. |
I never ever ever run a front license plate unless there's a semi-cool way to mount it. And even then I will only use it every now and then. And I have to be running a custom tag too. My current plate, whenever it decides to come in, says 'OMG 86' :)

When you play with fire, sometimes you get burned.
I would either custom mount the plate so it's not drilled directly into your bumper, or keep taking the risk that you're going to get pulled & fined. |
Just buy a license plate mount that screws into the tow hook. Get an officer to sign off on the fix it ticket and then remove the license.

I haven't run a front plate in about a decade. I received one ticket once that only required a fine. I considered it the no front plate tax, which at $30 didn't seem too bad to me.

In most states, failure to display a front plate is not a moving violation, so a ticket doesn't come with an increased insurance penalty. If you live in the small town, or travel through it frequently, they could cite you every day ($$$). Your car is not exactly a Camry that could blend in and go unnoticed.
See this thread for some options: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...899#post344899 I once was stopped for failure to display in front of the county courthouse in downtown Minneapolis (lots of cops are always there). The license plate frame covered my license tabs. I told the cop that while this was correct, I needed the frame to hold on my plate. Luckily he bought it (or decided to give me points for creativity under duress) and I went without even a written warning. I changed the frame soon after that though. |
Thank you Pennsylvania!
