FR-S freeze plugs

Hi guys,
Has anyone changed their freeze/expansion plugs that is located on the heads. A machine shop took it off to compression test the heads and now I cannot find the right size freeze plugs anywhere. So if anyone know where I could get them from let me know please because Subaru and Toyota couldn’t help me out on it. Thanks.

Hi ya, Jeshbud and welcome to our forum -

I didn't realize these engines had freeze plugs - :confused0068:

I have this burning question; why did a machine shop take the freeze plug out to do a compression test?

To address your question, I'm going to refer you to ol @Ultramaroon to look that up in his big book of parts to see if he can get you a description/part number.

Machine shop told me they needed somewhere to compression test, so they took that part off. I went to another shop to see if they had the part and they also wondered why they did that.

YIKES, Jeshbud, I figure someone is confused.

What part of the engine was being tested for compression?

Why is a machine shop messing with your car's engine?

If it were the cylinders, their pressure is usually done via the spark plug holes.

If it was the cooling system pressure being tested, that is usually done at the radiator cap.

Maybe someone will come along and help us out here - :sigh:

It must be my med time - ;)

where exactly on the engine is this freeze plug?
Could you give a zoomed out picture of where it is on the engine

The question I ask is why YOU are looking for the part.

If they removed it, THEY should be the ones fixing it.

They couldn’t find it so they told me I had to get it. Didn’t know it was hard to find.

Is it threaded at all?
I've looked at every part listed online for the engine and nothing.

Google has listings for lots of universal ones.
