JRZ RS Pro coilovers

Been searching the web for reviews and thoughts on running these on a BRZ.
I can find lots of reviews and such for BMW’s but not so much for the BRZ.
So, I dare to ask the forum people what they got.
Anybody running these or a different model?
Thoughts on them and would you buy again?
What issues have you had with them?
Other option is the MCE set.

And I know I will be asked, so I am on Tein SRC’s, 30000 + miles, so due for rebuild. I’m a touch anal about my car and I don’t want ANY downtime for the rebuild. I want off/on, alignment shop, get on with life.
The SRC are track oriented, I’m looking for a more Autocross type setup. I do like the SRC’s but time for another product, maybe. Might sell, might not.
Anyways, thoughts.

Imho worth specifying, what tires you run.

MCS is more known in autocross, but JRZ can be very good as well, maybe find a local who has a set and ask for a ride along?

I've been in cars with both, but was paying more attention to the driving than the suspension. Both cars nationally competitive for Street Touring (one was a Miata though)

On RE 71R’s. Generally stick to the 200 tread wear for STX.
I would like to try some crack thou. (R comps)
I’m into the high end as the SRC’s have spoiled me horribly. I do PDX’s and TnA.
It is my DD.

Agreed, but so far no luck. I do like to try different set ups, I’m a techno weenie.
I will research everything to death and measure 5x’s. Always have to play with my settings “just because I can”

Half the reason to buy the baller shocks is to test n tune your setup, I'd call up both companies and ask what they would send you as a baseline, I don't think either has kits sitting on a shelf, they're built to order.

FastWhite 10-03-2018 01:43 PM

I have been in touch with MCS, lots of good reviews. No one local runs them. Almost no reviews on the JRZ for the twin platform aside from an RCE one way back in 2012 I believe. Both have a few negatives which both companies bent over backwards to fix. The main one running the JRZ are the BMW folk.
Just looking for a review or experience with the JRZ.

I’ll try my initial supplier as well as the local AX chapters.

I can help you spec a set of JRZ for AutoX use.

While there may not be many JRZ reviews, I've personally owned a few different JRZ sets for this platform already and can offer you some guidance.

I have used two sets of JRZ RS (doubles non remote) on two separate cars (both E36 M3s) without any issues.

For the FRS I went with MCS because: they are local (actually in Alpharetta and I suggest paying them a visit), they showed up to the track when I needed them with their engineer to help me fine tune the shocks, we bent the shaft on one of the shocks at 5PM on a saturday at Road ATL, the team came, picked up the shocks, got it rebuilt and had it to us the next day 7:30.

This kind of support is what I value. Plus the shocks do exactly what it is intended to do.

Call Wyatt at MCS.

Good luck.

Lutfy

PS: Both shocks were DA Non remotes and was pleased with both after a fair bit of track time (M3 was on Dunlop slicks and FRS on Hoosier R7).

^^^ THIS. SO MUCH TRUTH.

Wyatt is the man! I have called, emailed him a million times, and each time he gets back to me with a well crafted, thought out response to my questions. Their customer service is second to absolutely no one on planet earth IMHO.

I run their D/A non-remote dampers on my BRZ. Hyperco springs all the way around. LOVE THEM.

CSG Mike 10-03-2018 05:52 PM

When you buy high end, you can't go wrong with any. Generally speaking, support the guys who will support you, as local support is a much larger factor than the damper itself is at that level!

Iceman 10-04-2018 07:25 PM

I run JRZ RS Pro 3's. I can only tell you good things about them, quality and performance are just what I was expecting(or even more!)

Their customer support is pretty good as well, they answered all my questions, suggested different options during the ordering process and I only had one issue (they sent the wrong top mounts for the front) and got it sorted within days. Happy customer.

Racecomp Engineering 10-06-2018 06:55 AM

Thread from wayyy back in 2012 of some initial testing we did of the JRZ RS line. Keep in mind this is 2012 and just a few months after the BRZ came out. The shocks have had a few updates since then. Scroll through for thoughts from myself and Myles.

The JRZs are good, and there are other good options too. Support is key.

Also, another option is our RCE T3 Clubsport coilovers. Built by KW and are a 3 way for about the cost of some 2 ways. User @cjd switched to those from Tein SRC this year and may have some feedback. Just another option.

@FastWhite, between @CounterSpace Garage and @Racecomp Engineering you’re getting the best suspension support you can get on this forum.

I have a set of MCS 1WNR single adjustables with 8K Swift springs all around, and they are very, very good, but they’re a lower end unit than you’re looking at or, frankly, what I would recommend for you. I love them, but will likely move to MCS double adjustables in the future so I can independently adjust compression and rebound. MCS is absolutely fantastic to work with and they’re also located in Georgia, which is a big plus for you. Vorshlag Motorsports co-developed the MCS application for our cars and have been very good to work with, so you may want to give them a call, too.

JRZ RS Pro coilovers

I absolutely agree with you. Those two are absolutely the best. The only way to top those two is to hire 25 yr racing suspension guru who only works on your car.
Can you say lottery winner, really big lottery!!!
I’m working with a few people on the east coast, I have been in contact with CSG. With MCS
I can tell you where the lowest price points are. I’m a research nerd.
I have some good prices on the TT2 MCS.
My requirements are:

It’s a DD that I AX, 2-3 track days/yr
Don’t care that much for comfort.
Tein SRC’s are nice except for the roughest rds. Which I’m currently on. Need a rebuild.
It’s an AX car
It’s an AX car that the wife is almost never in.
JRZ’ price point is a tad high, but I’d do it for the bragging rights.
I have worked with CSG a bit and have developed a loyalty to them. But they don’t really have what I’m looking for
I am NOT a National class driver. So I need to consider that.
Decisions, Decisions, Decisions

Hank
That for everyone thoughts and help.
