Version 2.0 My 2013 Series 10 FRS

Back when these first came out in 2012/2013 I got the very first MT off the truck from my local dealer in Tustin, CA. A Silver FRS. Loved the car and it was my first real sports car. I was 27ish at the time. I just started getting into cars after being a computer nerd my entire life(Hell its still my day job to this day). Took care of it, did some modifications, took it to a few track days. Then life happens as you gain more responsibilities in life other things that are not seen as core requirements(the FRS). I began to focus on my life, job, G/F then(now wife) plus as you move up in your professional life, you begin to get more pressure. Well a part of me did not deal with it well so I sold the car.

Over the next few years I bounced between a few different cars. Drove a 93 Alero, had a nice Focus ST MY 16 but traded that in 2 years ago when I got my wife a Ford Flex as a family hauler. I was going to take over Honda Fit. In hind sight I should have kept the Focus ST and gotten rid of the Fit(it was old and needed some work) Anyways fast forward to this year in July i was toying around the Idea of getting me a fun car again. The wife agreed just we both agreed this was gonna be it for a long time... and it needed to make sense $$$ wise(No car does but as best I could without over spending) Started looking at cheap NB Mitia's but cleans ones were hard to come by. So I took it off the list. Started looking at SV550 Mustangs with PP but as much as the power was fun and RWD... something was missing. One night my wife said just go get another twin. She said you always talk about how you regretted selling it. As I though about it the 13/14's are starting to hit that price point that was just right... but the key was finding a clean un-modded and well taken care of car. After about 2 weeks this series 10 popped up. Pictures looked good. Went down to dealership, test drove it again remember why I love these cars so much... An hour later paper work done and I left for home in my new to me FRS.

Then 4 days later some jack ass swiped my car at a costco or Winco. Super pissed... eventually I will get it fixed but its 100% cosmetic and kinda hard to notice unless up close.

Power Mods up First

I decided I wanted to do my bolt-ons right. I learned what was needed and what was not from modding my first car: So I decided to do the following first on my mods list: Tune, Header, and sound. I decided to do all three together but this time I was not going to mess with anything after the header and only do an axle back. The header is what gives you the most gain anyways... everything has very little gain, more noise, and more spots to have an exhaust leak. Thus I decided on the following combo:

Headers: Tomie UEL seemed to be the best bang for your buck on the UEL side new(besides Gruppe-S which had an unknown ETA)

Exhaust: I wanted an axleback but not a muffler delete which really left not many choices so I went 2.5in 5inch muffler AB from nameless. A work of art as you will see in the pictures

Tune: OFT plus a customized version from @Tor. Really dialed in the MAF and AFR so that it looks dead on under full load

The car drives so smooth and love that there is no more torque dip. Should have came from the factory this way. Working on getting a few clips of the sound but I love the sound. Bit of drone at freeway speeds and a bit worse on inclines.

This one I will make brief... I love the look of the car with a TRD Spoiler. Super clean, gives the car a nice aggressive look. I don't like wings on these cars unless its a track based car... bit to much for me. I also hate the tail lights. Love the red tom's V1 and found a super good deal on a used set. Added a beatsonic shark fin and the car has been really transformed from the rear. Clean, aggressive, but understated.

Android Auto

I miss Android Auto from my 2016 Focus ST. Thus when I figured out the car would not pair to my One Plus 5T via BT (I think its Android Oreo 8.0/8.1 issue) and I did not wait for PIE to maybe fix the problem, I decided to get a decent but the cheapest HU that was a double din digital only(no CD) AA head unit on crutchfield. Will be installing it this weekend. I think the SQ is fine in the stock car so I am sure this Headunit will have similar SQ as stock but with a new interface and AA. I will post my thoughts shortly after I install it.

Boost! Installed as 4/30/19. Pictures speak for themselves. But I also had my buddy who is handling the install add a Jackson Racing Dual Rad/OIL Cooler. Should have zero temp problems even at the track, Moto East Flex fuel kit, and a Jon Bond OIL CONSUMPTION PREVENTION KIT. Should be picking her up tomorrow so long as the shake-down test drive goes well. Enjoy

Does that head unit have buttons or is it all touch screen? I have been wanting to get an android auto one as well.

They are touch buttons but built into the unit and are not on-screen buttons

What made you go with BOSS? That brand is known to be chinese garbage that fails after a few months.

It was inexpensive and it seem to have decent reviews the couple of places I looked. I bought it from Cruchfield so if it does fail I will go back to them. Also the unit seems to be new so fingers crossed... Most stuff we buy is made china these days... Just because something is made in China does not automatically make it cheap.

Ok have fun. BestBuy autotechs have nothing but bad things to say about them. Good luck!

Nice initial mods. I actually just had a 1 month old set of TOM's shipped to me yesterday. Really clean tails.

Major changes on the way. I have decided to purchase a SC kit by eddlebrock used from a forum member for a really good price.. so 300 WHP here I come. I will have both my Nameless AB for sale and Tomei UEL headers as I have another more mellow exhaust and with the SC kit there is little reason not to run stock header. Will have pictures up in Jan when I get to the install :)
