Is it REALLY this Hard ?
I have been looking for an FRS/BRZ in the Atlanta GA area for about 2 months since my camaro was totaled in a rear end collision.
With that being said , I have not been able to find ANY Automatic FRS/BRZ’s that havent been in accidents or ones that dont have more than 2 noticable dents. I’ve been carless for two months and I really want one of these , but what in the hell is going on. Where do you find these things at? My main question is , How are these cars so rare and hard to find, Seriously ? |
Looking for any used car is hard to find exactly what you want. This being lower volumn just makes it a little harder.
I spent 6 months looking for my MR2 and flew 500 miles away to get it. |
I guess shit happens. For me it happens so much on this car.
Guy change lanes into me. 1500 Woman ran stop sign. 5000 Hit deer. 1500 Windshield. 450 Damage on private property by family member 2000 (not fixed) Damage on private property by family membet, unknown cost i fixed with hammer but bent radiator support, replaced hood and air intake, hammered out rest, still bent, car runs fine since then 2 years ago even on track, just kind of sick of it Recently been thinking to sell as is for less than 10k :( |
Camaro?
You're gonna be disappointed once you get this FRS jk |
You may need to lower your expectations. How bad are "noticeable dents"? There are many available in your area.

I was looking for one for almost a year till I found the right one, still compromised, look into paintless dent repair

cars.com, autotrader.com, etc. The most important thing is to be willing to travel if you are picky at all.
Also for an auto you might have to go to a dealer and be willing to buy new. Most people want no part of an auto on this car, although the auto is rather awesome. |

Not saying I'd recommend this place but Southern Auto Imports deals in a ton of FR-S/BRZ and frequently has 5-6 on the lot with rotating inventory. Some of them were awful with multiple damage/shot clutches/etc and then some were good. They run between 13k for high mileage and abused to 19k for low mileage newer ones. |

The body panels on these cars are really thin. Someone here actually dented his roof support above the door by leaning on it the wrong way. I got some door dings before learning how to park the car to avoid them, and even then I got a couple more. I had a dealership swap my plugs at 60K miles, and they dented the fender when they lifted the engine, it looks like from leaning heavily on the top edge of it. I have rock dings in my hood as well. If I were looking at used ones, I would kind of expect dents. The only way you're not going to have dents is if the prior owner just left it in the garage all the time and never drove it. On mine, I'm going to keep collecting dents until it's time for a repaint, then have them all taken out at once. And then the process will start all over. |
They're easy to find and deals are definitely out there. Either have realistic expectations for your budget, expand your mileage search, or up your budget.
I have even seen some clean one owner 14s in the 13k range now. They're not hard to find until you really start trying to find certain options or colors etc.... |
Funny, a few years back when I was searching for an auto I saw nothing but manuals. Now when I was searching for a manual it's nothing but autos, go figure!
Around here I see mainly autos on the used market. Included a few riced out ones or had something ridiculous done by previous owner. Maybe expand your location or price range? I'm sure something will turn up. |
Out of curiosity, what is the availability of MTs in your area and if there are any, are they in better condition?
I guess I got lucky when I got mine in October of last year. I looked for about a week and there was one red 2014 and two black 2013s. One of the blacks only had 20k on it but it sold before I got a change to check it out. The red one also sold before I got a chance to look. Both of those were in mint condition as far as I could tell from the description and pictures. The one I ended up with was also in extremely good shape but 82K but I got it anyways. All were ATs though. Never looked to see how many ATs were around. My preferred color was black so I was happy to find a black one. |
After 6 months of searching local dealerships, I finally found my MT Halo FRS several states away.
Like everyone else, expand your search location and budget. |
